In my first driving lesson my driving instructor got lost as it was in the hills...my area not his...
Ended up driving the entire way down and up Gorge Road because we couldnt find a sign that said "Gumeracha" and missed the place to turn off.
Gorge road is this really curvey road through the hills in Adelaide... Wasnt great considering it was the first time I had ever actually driven on the road...
It was good though, plus the learner car was a new brand new red 2004 WRX with gold wheels, so that was a bonus...I ended up being the first person to crash the car as well on my 7th lesson, last lesson before my final test.
Couple of times, Just knowing i'll be Farken Nervous with an instructor willing to bend me over hahaha
Cheers

P-platers are famous for getting overconfident too quickly so there's plenty of time to get ****y about your driving. a bit of nervousness is OK.
****y = co ck y
If it's your first time you won't be doing much clutch or accelerator work. The instructor will, in fact all you'll do is gently steer the car in a very controlled environment..
Your better off learning to roughly drive a manual, even if you bunny hop, roll down hills and then fine tune your skills with the instructor..
Let him nit pick the little things..
Hopefully I'm good enough etc etc, I'll have my P's the Monday after my B'day, So September 11th...

Oh and some tips, dont be affraid to give the car some revs, the more the better, you wont stall then, and elt the clutch up slowly, once its in the grab zone hold it there for a few seconds then let it out... eventually it will all come naturally to you.
Just take your time and dont rush things.
Some people say less talk more action, i say more torque less traction.
the instructor is there to help you, not screw you over![]()
ECOTEC KICKED IN yO!!!!!!
i never went to an instructor. i just did a hell of a lot of crashing gears etc on the farm hacks till i got that right then just applied the steering side of things lol. Worked for me.
it should be a breeze, just dont get c o c k y about it and u would b sweet, as mentioned above, the instructor is not there to screw u over
You'll be fine mate, just relax and concentrate on driving.
thats about all u need to know right there...first time i tryed to rush and i failed, went second go...n i aced i was a lot calmer and yeah it shows manOriginally Posted by Infus10n

attn Über geeks, i play Second life. Patrio Graysmark.
For a manual. Just master the clutch and that's it..
If you can find the friction point without any drama's, simple..
A few other things..
If you're making a turn, only use the fourth gear. If you're feeling cautious use 3rd. Any lower and you're just showing the assesor you can't drive..
When doing the hillstart, go flat out the accelerator and quickly release the clutch. You'll dart forward, better then rolling back..
Drift around turns to show the assesor you can control a car in conditions of no traction, such as rain.
Pull a few standstills to show him your brakes are working..
Hmm, that's abot it..
your an ass shounak...lol....
its easy as mat...
Its the hard things like mirror and shit you've got to master..
did you know that when you cahnge gears you must look in your mirrors, appaharently when you change the car decelrates adn could cause an accident.!!! assesors may take points off. Manual is hard for technicalitys.... i got mine fist go with a 2point only loss.... bloody 3 point turn.....
stuck with anything mat im here, can easy show you through it... manuals are fun, not hard. oh and roundabouts, coners, anthing wich requires rolling must be done in 2nd....
to master hill starts.... pracxtise on a hill... handbrake on, clucth in, bring revs to 1.5k slowly bring clutch out, when the revs drop bak a little, to say 1, or 0.7.. thast the friction, if you take your brake off then, it will just hold... more roll bak, less will stall, accelate a bit more and youll start to roll forward slowly... have a play...
my instructor got me to park on a corner, on a hill, behind a car.... then reverse handbrake start back up the same hill, i ### up i hit the car in front.,... damn i learnt fast!
aZk.
I rolled through a stop sign on my first test... FAILED!
You seem to be a bright enough young fella.
Treat it like a job. Go there, get in the car and just do what your boss tells you to do. If you are mature and sensible there is nothing to worry about.
When I got my license 10 years ago I had that attitude. I just got in the car, did all the things you are supposed to do to satisfy the instructor such as adjusting all the mirrors and putting on your seat belt before turning the key, not holding your left hand constantly on the gear knob (which I like to do) and taking your foot off the clutch pedal after changing gears unless it's nessesary to have your foot resting on the clutch. Don't worry about it. My instructor looked damn bored when I was driving.
Best of luck.![]()
the only thing i dont like is the lack of feel in newer cars gearboxes. the take up point in just not there!
also just my thoughts but did you know that if you are in vic and do an auto licence you go to manual when you get your full licence!
what crap!
what do you guys think?
(sorry for the hi-jack).
Move to SA, one license fits all here.
Practise is the only thing that will increase your skill, although, some people 'can' drive manual, and get it straight away, and some people just never get it. No offence intended, but being male, chances are you'll be fine.
