Apparently this picture was taken by a Channel 7 helicopter flying
over Lake Moogerah. (For those of you who are not local, Lake Moogerah is in SE.QLD, .)
That has to be a HUGE croc to have a whole deer in its mouth! Are you ready to go skiing on Lake Moogerah?! If you ski at the west end of the lake -- try not to fall.

Sorry dude but that pic has been around since I first started comming on the internet 8 years ago........
Might be a real pic, might not be.... But there have been hundreds of background stories about it... That exact same pic has been taken in America, Mexico, England, Australia, Africa and Im sure a number of other countries... Aparrently....
Cool photo though!
yeah regardless of where, he he id love to see old steve try and jump on its back. Cause i know there would be no way id go near it without a .375 h&h with 300 grainers in it.

i read that it was actually living on an ice shelf in antarctica. it wanted the deer for its fur so it could keep warm.

I rekon ya exhaust is leaking into the cabin mate... :P
i saw a doco on this 'mythical' croc on (i think) south africa. this guy was going to catch it and had all sorts of plans and traps and such. i forget the crocs name, but it was real... the biggest croc ive seen (on TV) ever. this thing was huge, you reckon steve irwin has guts, he wouldnt touch this sucker.
they wanted to trap it and relocate it cos the locals said it was responsible for a few deaths. they never caught it cos it was too smart for them![]()
lol @ the cheapest shot of the week.I rekon ya exhaust is leaking into the cabin mate... :P![]()
well, wattayaknow. just after i read this thread, i went out the back and saw one of these suckers retreating into the easement at the back of our block. couldn't get the camera quick enough, but i don't see the point, seeing as most of you skeptics would just try to tell me the photo had been around for years and was from africa or even somehwere completely ridiculous like antarctica.

doesnt have to be that big to have a deer in its mouth. look at the size of the main torso, shoulder to hip, and there aint that much difference if any between the croc and the deer, so when you think about it, that dont make the croc all that big....
that and dont crocs drown there food and let it decompose for a while under the water so they can go back to it at another time, when food aint that plentiful.....a croc with a deer in its mouth aint that hard to believe, i wouldnt have thought

Yeah well its was probably taking it back to the rocks to wedge it under there, maybe thats why it was still in it mouth. I still think that is a huge croc regardless of the relation to the head, shoulders, knees and toes. But thats me.
Cheers,
Brownie

For a few reasons i'm just not convinced.
Firstly, thats an alligator, not a crocodile in the pics.
Secondly, the only way for a croc to get into Lake Moogerah would have to be by being released intentionally by someone, due to its inland location.
Thirdly, how is it that we've never heard about this full grown croc in the lake till today. My family has been camping at Moogerah every Queens birthday long weekend that i care to remember. Why have i never heard this before!
I've tried to look for that story on the seven website but can't find anything. Do you have a link? I'd really like to see it for myself.

The truth from

(Interesting site)
The preceding photos, which show a 12 to 14-foot-long alligator swimming off with a full-grown deer between its teeth, are authentic, according to a press release from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. They were taken by district fire management officer Terri Jenkins on March 4, 2004.
Jenkins says she was about 40 miles south of Savannah, Georgia, on her way to start a prescribed fire at Harris Neck National Wildlife Refuge, when she spotted the gator making off with its lunch from her helicopter.
So it is a large Alligator but would only be medium sized for a croc.

A GIANT saltwater crocodile at least 6m long and 1m wide has been photographed at a popular Territory fishing spot.
The monster -- estimated at more than 6.5m long -- has been basking on the banks of the Mary River at Corroboree Billabong, about 90km east of Darwin.
The Territory's most famous croc, Sweetheart, measured 5.1m. The two largest certifiably measured crocodiles on record were both 6.2m long, one of which was caught in the Mary River in 1974.
Marvelling about the Corroboree Billabong saltie, tour operator Ted Jackson, who captured these photos, said: "He was a massive old creature. I never believed there would be a croc on the planet that size."
"It was just amazing -- he was a giant. ... he would have to be 65cm high from the ground and his belly was about 1.3m wide. He was just massive."
Mr Jackson, 63, said the saltie would have been at least 40 years old.
"There was no damn way any of us would put our finger in the water.
"He's a precious creature, and at that size could easily attack or capsize a boat."
Mr Jackson, who operates Wilderness 4WD Adventures, had about 30 tourists on board his boat at the time of the sighting. He said they were all in awe at the croc's size -- everyone estimating it to be more than 6.5m.
"They were dumbfounded," he said. "Everyone was just amazed ... they certainly got their money's worth."
He said there were at least two private fishing vessels that also saw the croc as they passed it.
Mr Jackson is a regular on Corroboree Billabong waters and came across a 6m-long croc about three years ago, which also featured on the front page of the Northern Territory News.
"I thought the one I saw out here about three years ago was big, but this one is much bigger,' he said.
The two largest certifiably measured crocodiles on record -- according to online encyclopaedia Ask.com -- were both 6.2m long, one of which was shot in the Mary River in 1974 by poachers and measured by wildlife rangers, and the other was killed in 1983 in the Fly River, Papua New Guinea.

Personally i dont give a sh*t if its huge, massive, or ridiculous sized, I wont be going in the water to measure him up![]()
On saying that the 6.5metre monster from the Territory, just stop and think just how long six and a half metres actually is. THATS FARKN MASSIVE.
Who's a nice lil crocodile then ?

Also, you will find that an ALLIGATOR (Its pretty easy to tell its not a croc) strong enough to bring down an adult deer, and swim with it through the water would be pretty dam big!
just a bit of extra trivia...the alligator has more jaw pressure than a crocodile...commonly measured in psi. from memory, the gator has around 2,500psi of jaw pressure.....around your head.....imagine that![]()
ok, then im part of the general public arent i....also i asked if they do. i never said they did for sure. relax man...Originally Posted by Baritji
