    Default Is this wrong?

Well i have taken a sick day today because i am finding out if i am getting a new job. If i get it, i need to go in therre this afternoon for a medical etc.

Do you think it is wrong to take a sick day for this reason? I would like ot mention the only reason i am looking for another job is because i am sick of having far too high a workload and not enough pay, there are also a few other reasons, one of them being a $300-$400 per week payrise.

Let me know what your thoughts are, i know business owners would be pissed...but

If im correct, your an emplyee at bunnings, do it, they dont really need you at that place, they have more people to replace you, employees at bunnigns are just pawns to them, easily replaceable and no real loss. But your not wrong in any way at all anyway, no matter where you work

    lol bunnings?

Nah, i work for an interstate transport company(which has just merged), my workload has doubled, my pay hasn't risen etc..

Julie, i agree it isn't right, but how else do you do it when they flat out refuse you an annual leave day?

man makes a good point.... technically it is wrong, but would they rather you not call in and just not turn up? or say to them while your there....'oh i need to leave at this given time so i can go to a job interview'.... they dont really leave you much option, so i wouldnt feel bad about it. take solice in the fact that youve done the right thing morally by making sure you can do your shit without ###ing your boss over....nobody loses

Hopefully when you have the day off someone higher up has to do your job. That way they will see how much work you have been doing for stuff all pay. Most people go to work even when they are sick so I would say that they owe you a couple of days anyway.
Good luck on the new job.

Sounds like a good enough reason for a day off.

Yeah fark em mate. If they won't recognise the hard work you put in, its probably a good time to leave.

I just quit my current job and will be going to another aviation company, I won't be a manager (2 steps down) but I will be getting an extra $200 a week! For less stress, and 8 hours a day instead of 16 plus!!!

Some places are just shithouse to work for!!!

So, did you get job mate????

    faaaaaaark em!

    1. Employers have to negate the need for having interview days by paying you more, and making YOU feel valued enough to stick it out for possibly lower money, they obviously have not done this. They should be aware fo your skills, abilities and the competitive rates for your role or similar in the marketplace... The industry I work in (Jobnetwork) it is VERY similar accross the board, main difference is benefits, Bonuses with the Profit organisation, and things like Salary Sacrifice at places like Mission and Salvo's etc... .:P

    2. It's better than abandoning your job and thus putting eggs ni one basket in case you don't get it

    3. Who the hell actually uses all their sick days? I left my last job and had 16 sick days built up, but these don't get paid out, USE them!

    4. And whoever said sick days should be when you feel good, HELL yes! I go to work constantly sick! hehe, i don't want to have a day off when I'm sick, I'll just be sleeping, whereas, hey, I probably going to have a crappy day anyway, might as well get paid for it! lmao
