it'll be FVP not GTP (thats a GT premium as thats the V8 while F6 is the I6T)Originally Posted by burnz

povo pack v povo pack (technically Ford win as it has 190 standard and more torque)
SV6 V XR6 (N/A) Tuff call as they're very close and it'll be up to the driver
XR6T V ......... Holden have nothing to combat this and it can beat 6L HSV's around some tracks with the 6 speed auto
SS V XR8 (SS wins)
HSV vs FPV ....Holden wins in the 8's but overall you would say the F6
i think ford should be penalised for having a turbo, its only there to stir things up...*shakes fist*
holden need to extract the digit and make a new supercharged or turboed car...3.6TT come on...
Need some parts for my VH 253:
Green standard steering wheel...Green lower B-pillar covers.
Green sunglasses holder/lower dash bits...Air-con and assorted engine bay parts.
PM with any info.
hmm that is hard to believe consider Ford has develop some powerful machine out on the roads
SV6 vs XR6 current series in Ford would win it due torque, power
XR6 turbo none right now unless Holden release a SV6turbo
HSV vs XR8 that i think holden would win it since i dont know what type of v8 the XR8 runs on
xr5turbo vs sri turbo ford again due to equal torque and power
XR8 runs a an SUV motor that is too heavy, has a very nice note but is too doughy down low.Originally Posted by Kenster84
SRI actually has more power but the XR5 has a better handling.
Any Holden would beat any Ford.. No matter what..
Disagree with me? Then go back to your f*ckn Ford Forums.. These is "Just Commodores"..

Yeah i know, too much power and FWD isn't a good combo, as the XR5 dosn't torque steer as badly. But it does rev out too 7500rpmOriginally Posted by Kenster84

yeah i see where you are coming from burnz...its like holden is sick of people ticking option boxes and just decided to make fully optioned SS's and Calais'...that are pretty much just a fully optioned version...but the fact that Executive and Acclaim are gone kind of evens it out a little bit...haha and remember holden has already brought out the first limited edition (or whatever you want to call an omega with rims and power windows)...so soon enough there will be fifty variants of the variants, like Storm is due for a re-do...
just my thoughts anyway, Stretch

oh apparently if you watch Clerkson review on Top gear or Fifth Gear both the show agree that XR5 come out better, the only review i know that didnt come to a conculsion was the Car Show in AustraliaOriginally Posted by vztrt
hate tourque steer, booted a v6 magna around a bend one day and almost jumped a kerb because it didnt react as i thought it would :S scary because it was a managers car -_-'
but as for H v F matchups, theres a selection of ways you can compare them, peformance [ drags 0-X circuit ] "vital stats" [ ground clearence turnign circle HP ratios etc ] Appearence [ get some holden people, some ford people and some neutral people to go over the styling ] comfort luxuray mileage. personally i wouldnt call one better than the other till it was tested to the last nut.
attn Über geeks, i play Second life. Patrio Graysmark.
Yeah I've seen that episode and Clarkson goes off. I've driven the XR5T and it still torque steers, but it's minimal. But it revved out to 7500rpm with only 2500k's on the clock, lol.Originally Posted by Kenster84

I think you may have made a mismatch between a couple of these. For starters the SV8 is probably better matched against a V8 XT as they are both basically a budget V8. While the V8 XT is not a "standard model" as it were, it is a very popular option.Originally Posted by burnz
Hence the XR8 lines up against the SS.
The GTS vs. GTP is a bit dodgy as well, while they are both top of the line for their respective manufacturers, FPV have stated in the past that they have nothing in their lineup to compete with the GTS, and HSV have kinda put a hold on the GTS anyway. The GTP is more pitched as an alternative to the R8 clubby.
I see your point with Holden having more models than Ford, it's not neccessarily a bad thing, it's just their way of doing things, has been for a long time. Fact is Holden and Ford most likely are not designing their model lineups to have each model directly compete with only one other from the opposite camp. When you think about it, it really would be a slightly odd way of doing things.
As for the eternal Ford v. Holden debate, as always it is a matter of horses for courses. In my experience the BA and BF are extremely smooth, comfortable and torquey vehicles, the VY (haven't driven a VZ) were more about peak power, straight line speed and some slightly harsher suspension in return for better cornering, oh and the auto shift quality was ratshit. Motoring journalists have been saying ever since the BA came out that the Ford feels more comfortable but not quite as fast and the performance models aren't as competent on the race track as their holden counterparts. I haven't raced the damn things but I'd have to say that it makes sense, the Holdens were a lot more fun to drive, the AU/BA/BF are definitely more comfortable, more of a "grandpa spec" kind of thing.
Just wanted to chuck in a comment about the XR8, they run the 5.4L bottom end of an SUV motor as mentioned earlier but they also have the DOHC heads from the 4.6L stang. Odd combination but apparently it's working quite well. I've actually got a soft spot for the old windsor V8 myself, pushrods all the way! One of these days I will own an AU XR8, because I'm that kind of twisted individual.![]()
Easy XR = xtra rusty 6 or 8,
GT = Glued together
GTP = Glued together prematurely
FPV = F@cked performance vehicles
F6 typhoon/Tornado = F@cked 6 typhoon/Tornado
Ah yes the good old Ford , oooooops i said the F word![]()
