lol, k ive had my F**d for 2 weeks now, of which its been in the garage being fixed for 10 of those days.
i have never heard of this ever in any car. it blows the oil filter gasket. except the last time i stripped the sump off and cleaned everything, reassembled and it was all good. then it didnt blow the gasket, it blew the friggin crimping around the filter itself. so if anyone has heard of this happening on any car and what the problem was it will be much appreciated.
ps im pretty sure its not just the fact that its a ford.
Damn! that would have been my diagnosis! haha, nahh I wouldnt have a clue. Hope ya find out whats wrong with itOriginally Posted by dolphin14

VT Calais II... The Italian Stallion
the oil pressure relief valve might not be operating or it is trying to kill itselfjoking... might want to start at the source with a mechanic and get his opinion
the prv is the first thing i inspected when i had the sump off. that was all sweet, free moving and all that.
i'll pay that, funny.Originally Posted by boona15
does it do it as soon as the engine turns over or after a few minutes????
the engine started, then idled for bout 5 secs then died in a burst of oil and gurgling noises.
on all three occasions
blocked oil gallery possibly but then the PRV would cut in.....and it wouldnt be both surely....
What engine is in this pig?
its just a wee little 4L 6cylOriginally Posted by vt1538
what if the blockage is before the PRV?Originally Posted by boona15

Heres a thought.....what weight oil are you using?
You put you left foot in, your put your right foot in , you take your left foot out and you slide it all about!
exactly what the specs in the handbook tell me to, 20/50. beleive me this crossed my mind aswell but thats not what is causing this.Originally Posted by 12Voltking
Have you tried fitting a manual oil pressure guage & seeing what pressure you actually have.
The PRV valve will also only be able to relieve a certain amount of oil so a complete blockage could still overwhelm the system.
Also when you had the sump off did you check the condition of the bearings?
If a main has spun it could block a good portion of the oil requirement.
ive finally found it, one of the bearing shells had twisted around a bit somehow, maybe from a hard life, or the ford factor, but its solved now.
Hahah thats what you get for having an EA/EB Ford... Expect the gearbox to shat itself next.

I had my EA for about 12 months, in that time I had to replace the following
Dizzy(crank angle sensor)
Dizzy cap(pitted)
Plug leads(one was cracked)
Heater tap(rusted)
Harmonic balancer(delaminated)
Head gasket(not an easy job!)
Timing chain guides(broken)
Tried to replace the sump gasket but gave up cause I couldnt figure out how to do it without removing the whole engine!
Front and rear brake rotors(warped)
Both front window regulators
Drivers window regulator(again!)
When I got rid of the POS to the wreckers(the only place deserving of it) the gear box was on the way out and the front ball joints were stuffed.
I had more problems with that one car than all my previous cars put together. It was the first ford I ever owned and it will be my last!
Im not a complete idiot, some parts are still on backorder!
The mechanic I go to just loves EA's & VL's.. I think he plans to retire on the money he makes from repairs on these 2
