Ok just a question, im tryin my hand at tricking up some pics of my car. Now I was trying to change the background to black and white while leaving the car colour. I cant seem to do it. I have been making a layer without the car in it and setting it to monochrom and then going to put it over the orginal layer so the colour car shows thru. Now photoshop wont let me have a different colour layout per layer and makes it all black and white.
How do I do what I want to do?

pretty sure you need to rasterize the layer with just your car on it so the back ground changes dont affect it...i think, its been a while since i did any photoshoppin.
select the entire car, go to inverse select
then remove colour
no need to go through layers!

Its ben a while but I think I'd usually do this by selecting the background then going to image>adjustments>desaturate but I'm no pro , just self taught, and theres prob a simpler way.
julie - yep thats the way i do it!
also self taught, couldnt figure out an easier way!

Nah I did it different to how Julie said, had a brain fade and was selecting Image>Mode>Grayscale.Originally Posted by Bax
