Will be a few days, get some antihistamines helps with the swelling and yeah it will bleed a bit.

How long exactly depends on how they did the op... but yeah shouldn't be too long now..

i have had a look in the mirror... you cant notice the swelling, i can talk properly aswell just cant open my mouth more than a inch

i pulled up quite well actually... 3 other people had the same opp in the same day by the same doctor.. 1 kept passing out and had to have a HR monitor on
anohter kept throwing up and the other just slept...

and i was begging to go home 30 mins post opp.. they made me stay for like 3 hours and eat crappy hospital food...

im a fairly large (6'4") and fit n healthy and accustom to pain ... ive been through much worse things than this and have to go back to hospital to confirm if i have liver damage from when my drink got spiked 3 weeks ago today hope i dont but inital blood tests werent too convincing

i had all mine taken out a few years back, they were coming through at and angle and were getting lodged under the caps of the rear teeth.
it wasnt really all that bad (maybe i was just lucky)...felt heaps crap for the rest of the day after the op..but after that it was ok, didnt hurt too much and i had heaps of nurofen forte prescribed if it did start to get bad.
probably the worst part is the annoying/itchy feeling from all the stitches.
i didnt seem to have any of the bleeding that has been mentioned, i had heaps of crusty blood inside my mouth when i woke up post-op, but it didnt bleed after that.
within 3 days i was eating normal food again, so it doesn take to long, the mouth heals really quick, my stitches even all fell out before the week was over.

i had a molar in the back of my mouth pulled out a couple of years ago

and the wisdom tooth came down in its place

i thought the dentist had left bits of tooth in there so i went back to him but he said it was the wisdom tooth.
its taken a while but its just about fully out now

i had a wisdom tooth out... just had the pain relief needle.... but the dentist grabbed my head... then sat on it with his knee.... LOL ... i thought he was one of those TV Saturday night wrestlers.... took him a bit of twisting and pulling to get it out.... My wife said in the Philippines she couldnt afford pain relief needle and had all her wisdom teeth out....

I had one of mine out earlier this year. I had to go back about 3 days later as There was more aching in the area where they removed it. Turns out that the socket was infected and they had to wash out the socket.

Washing out the infected socket was the most painfull thing. They can't numb the area and they get the drill into the swollen socket. You nearly hit the roof with pain.

Sounds like my wisdom teeth....And reading that put me off getting them out, but they have to come out. top two are trying to grow in towards my other teeth, and the bottom two are lying on their side trying to grow out the side of gums.

They friggen hurt too! I get regualr headaches from them, and frankly, even as horrible as the pain sounds after they are out, I'm sure it will be worth having them out.

I've just gotta get off this waiting list though. At this rate, I'm never going to get them out.

Yeah, had all 4 taken out last year under a general aesthetic. The local they give you before you
wake up lasted about 32 hours before I had feeling back.

Was off pain killers about 4 days after, no swelling, bruising or excessive bleeding

General Anesthetic and done by a surgeon is the best way to have it done in my opinion

I ended up with 2 black eyes from the swelling and bruising. 2 of mine came out in 4 or five pieces so I had some huge holes left behind from the dentist digging around. I still remember the taste of my first post wisdom teeth steak...mmmmm.. took me about a week and a half to start eating solids and a bit longer to get stuck into the harder foods.

When they came to get me from the waiting room wearing butchers aprons I knew I was in for it.

i had all four done in one hit. all 4 had impacted. one was on the nerve and had to be cut in half to be pulled.

was delerious for the first 12 hours, at painkillers for 2 weeks. swelling was completely gone in one week, bruising lasted a bit longer (one black eye and a black jawline). stitches came out in about 2 weeks, holes remained (but i didnt notice them til after two weeks) which filled with food and ached something shocking. cleaned them out as often as i could. holes are still there but arent as bad and seem to be closing.
i had mine done 12 weeks ago - sometimes the holes still hurt and i still have trouble chewing on the side with the nerve problems.
im glad it only ever gets done once.

a mate still has holes over 12 months later.

who ddi them? Martin Chin did mine in Geelong. apparently hes rough but does a good job. Support and checkups afterwards have been fantastic.

where are you that is takes so long? i had to drive to geelong (2 hours from here) to get it done, but from when i booked it it only took 8 weeks, and they could have done it after 2 weeks but i didnt want it done in the middle of the school term.
i dont understand why people are waiting so long for such a common procedure?

i feel for ya buddy. i really do. i chewed more pain killers than my body would even want again. once the codeine wore off i felt crook in the guts too, i swear i developed a slight addiction....

does private mean you payed for it? and public mean you wait forever for it?
i paid, alot!, but its health we are talking about!! its not a pack of 40's of the austar, i cant understand why people wait so long to get the free treatment for such important things!

I had mine done bout 6 years ago but i had mine done by the dentist before i had to go and get braces luckly i had one side done a time so i coould still eat on one side (works in theory )

They had to make room so my teeth could be moved around

Dont dentists do them anymore or does it depend on how bad they are
