    Default 110 km/ph in a 60 zone

    Im not bragging

In fact i hope everyone here abuses me

But last night i was pulled over while on the cruise doing 110 km in a 60 zone

A cop was behind me and it was only one cop

Im a P plater, ive never had any fines for speeding etc, what do youse think are my chances of losing my licence for 6 months?

I think i will, also how do you go about appealing for your licence? because i have a job in which i need my car for

    What do youse think

bi bi licence, aint it if u do over 20ks more then the speed limit instant loss, and 4 the appeal i think u have to book a date with the court, then u will need to get a note of you bosse etc stating why u need to keep your licence

what did he say? did he fine you on the spot?
i was discussing this with someone a while back, you can take it to court and things can be taken into consideration. i would see a lawyer, it might be pricey but beleive me, they will know many tricks.

6 months is the maximum i think, you could probbably get it reduced.

however, i live in nsw... so i don't know about SA laws.

Best thing you can do is go and complete a defensive driving course or something like that. Then when your infront of a judge you can say:

Unfortuniatly it has taken this incident for me to realise that the way in which I drive is stupid and not only puts my life in danger but also the lives of my passengers and the other motorists using the road. I am now taking steps to improve my driving through defensive driving cources and also changing my own attitude to the seriousness of driving and realising the effects that hooning could have on my own and others lives.

Yada, yada just show that your sorry, might count for something.

Spose its a lesson well learnt, if i was the judge i would make you do a defensive driving course so it might go in your favour to do one before court. As for the police officer i would report him as although your were breaking the law and being a idiot, he has no right you swear at you. Good to see your happy to cop it on the chin and hopefully we hear you never doing it again

It may also backfire on you if you take it to court, I beleive (at least in nsw) that you can get fined more than the original fine. To be honest if I was the judge I would probably double the fine as lesson to teach you to take responsibilty for your actions and stop trying to weasel your way out outta stuff when you get caught and for wasting the courts time. But hey I'm not a judge and thats just my 2c.

I know I shouldnt help you cos you are "bloody idiot " ... but cos the copper was swearing at you I think he's a real arse hole ..... OK, only 1 of him against you and your mates ... seems to me the balls in your court ... whats the copper's evidence of you speeding? was he in full uniform ( wearing his hat) ... in QLD you can get off fines if the copper's not wearing his hat ( not in full uniform) ... I think if you can find a good lawyer, he will get you off .... NEVER admit you was speeding...

I think you should just take the fine and suspension on the chin. there's no way a judge will lower your fine if you were doing near double the limit.
as for a work lisence, you will need to be heard in court, plead your case, show your sorry for being a young'n (read slundy's post) and hopefully the judge will let you have a work lisence, but be warned, if your caught drivin for any reason other than work, you're gonna be bent over

Was it an obvious 60k zone?, If it was a roadworks or electronic sign that can lower the speed limit you may have a chance in court to explain you didn't see the reduced rate and plead your case. If it was a busy area that has always been 60 you will get what you deserve

what the hell, he was swearing? i would report him. are u allwed to drive atm?

when you get your letter, it will have a thing on the back (ive never been pulled over) but it should be a thing where you can appeal it, that's weird coz i thought anything over 30k is instant loss of licence, was he in uniform or unmarked? ive heard stories of coppas being smartasses and abusing people and saying there gonna be fined etc and then nothing happens. i dunno.
i know how you must be feeling, just wait for the letter and only worry when you need to worry.

Tell them you're doing a defensive driving course so that next time you're doing 110 in a 60 zone you'll know how to avoid an accident

You will prob get a letter stating that in 28 days of getting caught you will lose your licence.Being a P plater your licence will be cancelled and you will have to sit it again. You may recieve a summons to go to court and be charged with dangerous driving(automatic 6 months cancellation)and expect a big fine also.
Forget about the cop swaering at you,if you complain he might think of some other charges to throw at you.
I dont know what state you are from but i live in Vic and have copped all of the above, and i would say that most states would have similar rules.
I have also never had been allowed to keep my licence so i can go to work.
Good luck and i hope you have learned something by it all.

Obviously dont love your car enough to look after it ey? Or to make sure it does not hit someone elses car. Well like some people on this post said, there goes your license, your money and your perfect driving record.

Why? Your record doesn't get erased when you turn 18 if that's what you're thinking.

I've done faster speeds in 60 zones (not bragging, but touching 170-180)... Never got caught, but now that I've got all the burnouts, driving fast and like a wanker out of my system I just go easy. There's no point speeding everywhere if it's gunna kill you one fine day.

This is how it works in NSW...

45k and over is a serious breach.. As for it being a criminal offence.. No.. But it does stay on your driving record. There is no court appearance needed, but remember this is considered as bad as drink driving.. If you do 3 offences you are considered a habitual offender and can look at jail time... But that is worse case..

You can appeal, but saying you need your licence for your job is not enough to overturn the decision. The judge will just say that you had your job before you were caught speeding, so your licence/job does not mean that much to you. And if the judge thinks that then he is right...

It is a very serious crime, and you might be able to attend a traffic offenders program to help reduce the sentance.. It was me that Christina was talking to about this stuff. As you are only on your P plates, the judge may want to make an example of you. Because you don't have much of a driving record you cant really use the "I am a good driver that has never had a fine" line of attack.

The police can take your car for this offence (so I am told) and they can also cancel your licence on the spot. But the cop has been nice enough to let you drive until your paperwork is processed. As for it being a $500 fine.. Not being rude, but you wish... Try more like $1550 as a fine + 6 points + automatic suspension for 6 months. This is the part where I repeat it is a serious offence...

Not sure what your appeal is going to be like. Most states have taken away the chance to appeal for some reasons. 1 of those reasons is suspension of licence due to loss of points (Yet again this is the case in NSW). If you are going to take it to court, then get a solicitor. It is always worth fighting because you could get a reduced sentance, or try and ask for a section 10 licence.. But given the fact you are a P plater, I don't thin the section 10 is an option. This is all information that you will be able to pay a solicitor to check into..

If you need further infrormation please feel free to PM me.

Mate I've got a fair idea how you feel, I got done doing 108 in a 50 zone. an hour lecture. 6 point and $350. However this was about 6 months before the hoon stuff came in. It's not something you forget and I ceartanly slowed own real quick after that. Oh yeah. Also cant get insurance for a v6 commodore now.

Another thing to remember as a word of warning to all is that if you are caught doing over 130 in a 110 zone, it is treated the same as 45k and over... 130 is the maximum speed you can do on the road before you are considered as a serious offender... Yet again in NSW...

Ill have a guess and say it will be more then 6 months more like atleast 12 as ya had passengers inthe car makes it worse 4 you in court and a perfect record most 17 year olds should have a perfect record and i think ya fine will be a little more than 5 hunge to as i had a speeding fine in Adelaide for 3 hunge and that was 30 over (the old speed camera days) so no points.

i did 113 in a 100 and i got fined. and i also lost my licence for 6 months instantly not for loosin points but because i was over 100! u will loose it dude, no question bout it. also if you take it to court there more then likely to give you a fine and more charges like endangering lifes or somthin. 50k's over whoa!!
