Hey folks me and my mates have found a way to get through the schools firewall/proxy. This will come in handy for ppl who go on the internet at school and some sites are blocked ie: user hosted websites etc etc.
It does come with ita limitations, like some java scripts dont work, some Custom Blocks are still blocked but you will find it will work 90% of the time.
It works as an online service, you goto the site below and type in the address you want to visit and then from there everysite u goto has a frame above it with a URL text box to browze with. You dont use your internet browzers URL textbox.
If your still having trouble or discover the site below has been blocked, pm me and i will find another service for you.

Please note, this may also work with other interstate schools and maybe if your work has a Net Nanny or somthing. I havnt tested it with other states school, i only know it works for sure on South Australias BESS/edSuite school thingo.
Enjoy, Tim
oh dear... im a teacher and i really think the kids need to be doing as they are meant to and not fighting the sytem that makes it for them.
having said that it does annoy me when i want to check something on here from work and cant get in!
lol ohwell, what do you teach? dont tell me IT..
nah primary school, general classroom. IT... pfft half the stuff you mentioned up there was like chinese to me.
lol u shouldnt have to worry then, i didnt even learn to change the screen saver until yr7 (sa)
Back in the day I used to use:
http://projectbypass.com/
or
http://vtunnel.com
lol I found it funny watching the IT dept trying to keep up with patching the ways that us IT students kept finding ways around hehehehe, would have just been easier if they just let us use MSN & be done with it. Silly TAFE!!! lol yes I know, they have to etc... not safe etc.... I know why, but then again I think that we had more fun & I know I learnt alot more by trying to bypass the sytem constantlyeven showed the lecturers a thing or two
D.
Heh, they tried to get this thing on the computers at school how you couldn't install applications...
So you just get "portable" versions off the net and run them from your USB stick/mp3 player.
I finished year 12 last year. by the end of the year when we needed the internet the most for assignments, we found that nearly every f***kin site was blocked. If we need to know something about tools for a metalwork assignment, the sites were blocked. If we needed to research a music artist the sites were blocked. It was getting out of hand. I know i know i could just do it at home. But arent we meant to learn at school?. My teachers just kept saying 'just do it at home on your internet'. It was BS.
FIGHT THE POWER I say.
Its stupid that they would rather ppl not learn and be blocked from website than ppl learn and not be blocked from websites!!!
you gotta see what a pain in the arse system it is though. the state system has a general setup then the admins at each school can tweak it.
like mentioned above, so many things have double meanings, 80% of the internet is porn related, so it makes it very hard. the system has a duty of care to its students which in the end means severe limitations on what can be accessed.
blame the porno freaks.
im glad they havent blocked this site at school. i would be pissed off but then again i might not get in shit for going to it all the time![]()

Just Commodores or the site i posted before? if jc got blocked just do as i suggested, and if what i suggested gets blocked ive got many other simular sites that do the same thing.Originally Posted by _A_D_A_M_
that wouldnt work at all because ALL internet traffic has to and can only go through the proxy server (proxy.decs.sa.edu.au) and its the firewall on the server that blocks sites - NOT the actual internet browzer its self.Originally Posted by KingDiamond
just commodores. if it gets blocked how will i be able to get to that site cause i wont be able to remember it

write it down, store in a sms on ya phone or somthing. or email it to your school email inbox.
yea already knew this trick, few mates always do it alot

I'm the IT Nazi at my work, I block people's access to websites
But I agree, there are certain things that shouldn't be blocked. We try to be pretty lenient here, but non work-related sites which show a lot of traffic (ie. obviously cutting way into work time) tend to get blocked. Same with some ad sites (like doubleclick) to help cut back on browser hijacks and stuff.
Here at work I'm suprised some of the sites that have been blocked, and others that are still viewable.
What do you guys do at school these days? Back when I was at school I didn't have time to look at the net, let alone forums- Hell I wasn't even interested in car stuff until I got my car and licence.
Just confuses me.. as to why you'd need this site at school anyway.
During recess and lunch, so called study periods "free lines". I never did work when i was at school, i quit at the start of year 12. but now i seriouslsy considering goin back in '07.
Recess and Lunch? Thats when your outside talking to your mates, running around being idiots, having food fights, playing footy, cricket, touch, basketball, getting in fights, watching fights, going to the shop for fish and chips.
Stuff looking at the internet.
Lunch and recess at school was for tuning the girls mate, not sitting in the computer room lol.
But yeah, we used to rip up those proxy sites during Computer Studies... Everyone played games n shit, I don't think anyone listened to the teacher..
