Holden vs Ford

Seriously, can we get over the Ford jokes.

In each thread, there has to be at least one reply comparing Holden to 'Flawed'

90% of the time half the comparisons look like extremely one sided opinions or what seem to be completely made up statements. I'm not a huge Ford fan, nor am I a full Holden fan, even though I'd probably more then likely get a Holden (with exception to the BA xr6-t) but anyway.

Basically what I'm trying to say is can we move on, the rivalry is there but I don't see the point making jokes about it unless you have the facts. Which in a way, could turn the joke right back around.

What made me say this was just the generalisation of things like:
The ford was really bumpy to drive- The Holden was bumpy, but thats just because its new.

Ford Recalled this this and this because its a Flawed: Meanwhile there seems to be a good excuse for the Holden recall.

Nothing against a Joke, but when its mentioned every two seconds its no longer funny.

yep they sure do Salem and I know and yes I'm one of thos that like both but I like the commodores much more better and I look after mine like it's brand new still were as I just drive my Flawed to work shopping anywhere that is dirty or might get the car scratched. The VR goes to nice places etc.

Just so you guys know, i'm not anywhere near as biased as i probably appear in my posts. To be honest, i do like some Fords, mainly the older ones, including the almighty GT-HO, and the BA's. Personally, i reckon that they were pretty crap from the XD to the AU (although the EB and ED interest me just a tiny bit, mainly the high performance models). The BA was a huge improvement over the AU, and its a damn good car, even though i prefer the VY (better power to weight ratio, looks better, nicer interior). Most of the time when i call them "Flawed"'s, or make a joke about them, i'm just playing around. So the summary of this post is: Some Fords are pretty good, but most of the time, given the choice, i'd rather the equivilent Holden.

Good points Bextor, have to agree with you about the xr6-t too, tis an awesome car, however I have never really been a big fan of Fords, maybe with the exception of the old Mustangs (60's). Still prefer a Corvette Stingray over a stang anyday though

I think Bextor was trying to make a point without offending anyone, after all he drives a Commodore too remember.

I'll admit I've noticed JC's does tend to overdo the bias in a pack mentality without looking at the facts compared with other forums that tend to take on a more intellectual approach. Everyones entitled to an opinion but in the end, why not use the 'discussion' aspect of a discussion forum? This isn't something new sadly and people who have joined JC's have left to due to that fact, it's even been discussed on other forums I won't mention.

We don't want die hard Holden Fans offended anymore than we want all round motoring enthusists offended, but this is a Commodore forum right? So why even mention other manufacturers....because we're more motoring enthusists than the stereotypical 'bogans'. Personally I'm interested in the technology and changes which effect almost all models and manufacturers, theres always been places where one excels and the other fails.

I think for the communities benefit (what JC's is after all), we should consider what we say and how we say it. I'm not one to judge, but maybe what Bextor was trying to say is that "It's something we should think about at least"

Then why the constant discussion of Fords and Rice? Because no matter what the heading or main topic of discussion, it's a motoring forum. If Commodores were the limit of discussion, more than 50% of the threads would be deemed off topic and JC's would be quite boring don't you think.

I don't think Bextors point was about offending JC's users or Ford drivers/fans, it would just be more interesting if knowledgable comments were made, be it in a negative or positive light. Members don't come or join to read threads like that. Most people join wanting mechanical and model specific advice.

it's realy quite simple actualy, while browzing a ford forum (dont forget i drive a ba s2 coon for work) i spoted holden jokes, i had a small giggle to myself, and moved on, i didnt get offended, it has been said in another post in this partiucar thread, it's like your football team, you chear when your team comes out, and when the other team comes out, you boo, that's what it's like here, i have a realy simple solution to this, if you dont wanna see ford jokes, then dont open or read a thread that has ford jokes, as for the rice, yeah, im sick of seing that, and after im finished with this tread, ill be removing the current rice thread, it has sliped my finger's for a while,

if any one has any problems with people saying ford jokes, please inform admin guy's, we are unable to do anything unless we know it's offending someone, all it takes is 1 person, if 1 person is offended, ill close a thread at the drop of a hat. as a rule, darren and i tend to let the moderators run loose here, so simply report a post to a moderator, there are 6 to chose from, click here to find them, and simply click on their names and send them a personal message, or you could email them directly, it's yoru choice, if you dotn know who the moderators are, i would strongly sugest you click on the above link and see who the moderators are, with the exception of strech, and mr-spares, you can report it to anyone of the member's listed below

to sum up my little story above, if your offended, report it, if your upset, dont look at it, if you like ford jokes, look at them, but enough of the rice. and just remember, what happens in this forum im sure is put up on other forums i.e. a ford site does make fun about holdens, lets keep the peice, and no, we arnt bogans either

I thought I would re-open this thread due to a number of reasons, mainly for personal views as I'm interested in knowing what everyone's thoughts are.

Although I do agree with a lot of points made, it does get a bit tiring after a while hearing the same thing over and over again, not for me but other people. We all know what the better car is Heck we wouldn't be here otherwise.

I am Holden fan through and through, I dislike fords with passion but I don't go on about it.

Keep everything civil and think before writing something about the opposite manufacturer and we'll be fine.

The BA is a good car....I saw an XR6 parked next to a VY S this afternoon and thought about this thread. I must admit (I'm sure many other members agree) that the XR6 looked nicer. I don't have an obvious reason to dislike Falcons (I don't care about other Fords....or really Holdens for that matter), but I just love my Commies! I like to see a good joke, be it Ford or Holden, and don't mind the flawed and f*ord comments. But, as bextor84 said, in moderation. Unwarranted slander on any make can be plain annoying.
I hate rice cars, but that's just my opinion. Their drivers probably hate falcons and commodores too, but hey....who cares!
All in all, the whole Holden v Ford debate has been providing entertainment for many years, and hopefully will continue for many more
