Anyone played rfactor before?

Hey people, i have heard off this game called rfactor and was wondering has anyone here played it before and what is it like? www.rfactor.net . It's supposed to be a huge online racing game. They even have the v8 supercar's in it or something...

I've got it. Get it for sure, unbelievably awesome game. One thing though...You will want to be REALLY good at racing sims to play it without every driving aid turned on full. The V8's are from a mod by ORSM called 'V8Factor'. It gives you all of the 2006 V8 supercars and also Mount Panorama circuit. I gotta say, it's damn fun to race a BMW Sauber F1 car around Mount Panorama :P

If you have every driving aid on, it's as simple as accelerate and brake and it does the rest for you. Even then, Braking Help will stop you accelerating and start braking for corners for you even if you hold the accelerator down. With every driving aid off, the massive jump in torque in most cars gets you spinning in 1st, 2nd, or even 3rd gear in some cases. It's very, very hard to race with every aid off, but if you can do it, it's the most fun racing game you can get. The sense of speed is awesome, physics seem real as far as I know, damage modelling is pretty good too. I suggest you at least get the demo and take a look at it.

Here's a video of the in-car view of racing a V8 supercar around Mount Panorama. Recorded using trial version of Fraps so it's only 30 seconds long, but you get the idea. The sense of speed is pretty good here, but the F1's are even better. I've got a video of me in the F1 racing through Mount Panorama here, only thing is that it was on my PSP so it's kinda munted resolution-wise :P I had just about every driving aid on in the F1 video, just to show how quick it could look if you were talented, unlike me :P Even with it doing most of the driving for me, it still spins on that final corner. The back left tyre lifts without fail, and the car usually spin unless you're going about 50kmh.

Sweet. Many people play it online?. Thinking about getting it, i didnt know there was a trial version im going to have to check it out. Thank's for your help.

No worries. I'm not sure about how many play it online, I haven't bothered. I'm nowhere near good enough, can hardly make it around one lap without spinning :P

i've got rfactor, www.ausorc.com is an australian site afiliated with rfactor and other racing sims. rfactor is awesome and have played it for hours on end, would recommend it to anyone that can run it. used to speak to the orsm guys a bit that developed the v8 mod for rfactor.

I wish i hadnt read this thread now, a month from exams, and a months worth of essays to write and im gunna get addicted to this, damn it. Looks like an awesome game thats for sure
