im in the process of setting up a new tank as i finally have the space, just a 4 footer, but should do nicely. running through a fishless cycle at the moment, so while im waiting ive just been doing some landscaping for the when the new tenants move into it.
If anyone knows where i can find some decent priced Mopani or bogwood, or even driftwood if its nice, let me know.
You can get free driftwood from the beach, everything (rocks, driftwood) in my tank i got from the beach.
Take it easy...But do take it...

I scrub the DW/rocks with a clean brush an rinse with fresh water NO SOAP, then let it soak in FW for a couple of hours. This works for me, Don't blame me if your fish die.
Did you see my eeltail NEM???.

i might as well be paying to purchase and post, cheaper than petrol in the ss to get the beach and back.
would volcanic garden rocks be ok if i drilled a few holes in them for caves? give em a wash like you said
just spotted it mate, looks good, ill take some pics of mine soon, i need to clean the glass first its filthy.
do you have any problems with your eeltail harrasing your other fish, mines currently in a 4ft tank with 3 gold fish, i want to put in something more interesting than goldfish but hes pretty aggresive and i dont really wanna put some nice fish only there only to have them eaten.

I thrown mine in the shower, or bath, and gently scrub anything off that's likely to just come off in the tank. Then if it's small enough i'll boil it for a couple of hours. Kills everything, get's rid of some of the tannins and it will soak up water straight away (usually) saves soaking them otherwise they'll just float unless you weigh them down. This bit was boiled for like 3 hours and after a few months the tannis are still leaching out. If you don't like brown water, i don't reccomend putting and driftwood in.
