the tree would have died as well and they should use it in a memorial and as it says " near the tree which is on a sharp bend with little visibility.
Other cars coming down the steep hill might not see them stopped on the road, or pulling in or out of the road verge, in time to prevent an accident."

Well I'm glad the council has taken action in removing a road hazzard which resulted in a tragic death ! However, the council shifting everything that was left at the site in rememberance to another location is a bit hard to swallow.

I'd rather see it burn ! Who in there right mind would want to see the object that ended Brocks life as a memorial ?

I'd rather see a statue of Brocky alongside one of his famous 05's !

What did the tree ever do.... brocky crashed into it, it didn't crash into brock, should left it there. Wonder how long until we see pieces of "Tree that killed Brock" on ebay

Personally i think good on them for removing a hazard and to help stop people parking in silly places only to have further accidents.

though something like a marking, plauqe or similar would be ok imho

Wasn't the other issue that it has claimed several lives before PB's accident?

I had been thinking some idiot would cut that tree down but I didn't think it would be the council that did it, that's the last thing Peter Brock would have wanted, he probably would have chained himself to it. It also shows how little they know about trees if they are saying you can kill a gum tree by killing the bark on one side, there's no chance it would die. It not going to make the corner safer either, if it's not going to be that tree that stops you it will be the one behind it or the one behind that. Anyway you don't go around killing stuff just because someone crashed into it, bunch of noobs that's all I can come up with

I AGREE, the way i see it is, if it was left there it could be a reminder to everyone that anything can happen.

Now drivers will go straight through where that tree was and hit the next one. But not before possibly hitting the stump and rolling it (very unlikely but possible).
