    Default sick dog

my dog is really sick at the moment and i can't figure out whats wrong. i've looked for tics and can't find any. i pressed his belly to see if it was sore but he didn't yelp. he did throw up water though shortly after. he's drinking water but seems to be struggling a bit. he has no energy at all. he just lays in my daughters sand pit. he barely eats anything. he didn't even look at the bone i put out for him. i'm really worried. he's only a few months old and i can't afford hundreds of dollars for the vet to do ultra sounds or xrays. he's been gastric too. someone help please......

im no vet, but i did almost loose a dog a little while ago to parvo. then after he had parvo and got over it he died because of a gastro thing. i would sugest taking him to the vet, he could be ok, but he could have something nasty, no-one realy knows. if youd ont have the cash, might i sugest you get racq pet insurance. it's a wonderfull thing.

you dont have any kind of poison it may have ingested? eg. snail bait, rat bait etc? Or could it have eaten a mouse/rat?

    This explains all about parvo.http://www.workingdogs.com/parvofaq.htm

It could be a lot of things, unfortunately thats why they do all the expensive tests at the vets, diahorrea and lethargy are indicative of many different problems. If it keeps up I'd definately take it to the vets, some will let u do payment plans if you can't pay all upfront costs.

How long has he been sick for ? when did he last eat and last have a dump ?

I'm thinking that he may have eaten something he shouldn't have and it maybe blocking his intestines... Pups are notorius for eating stuff they shouldn't. That would explain his listness, and not wanting to eat.

I really think you should take him to a vet and let them give you an expert opinion though.

he had dinner last night. he didn't eat much breakfast, he didn't even touch it til this arvo. i found 2 dumps, but there may be more, that he's done today. both were gastric. i looked online and it said it may be poisoning or an infection/disease. i don't have time to go to the vets til wednesday as i work weekends, plus my wife is allergic to animal fur so can't get him to the vets. my brother-inlaw might but i have to pay with credit card.

mate lots of vets offer an 'ambulance' service they'll come and pick up the dog (It'll cost you, it was about $20 when my mother in law had to do it last year). I haven't seen the dog and it might just be a bit under the weather, but if it is something serious Wednesday might be too late.

he's such a great dog though. my mate said it was $500 to put him down, or $1.50 for a bullet + your concience.

i don't want to kill the poor bugger though. he's a beaut dog.
