Get rid of the stupid phone option
Keep it
Anyone had private callers ringing and hanging up when you answer? Damn gutless pricks.
If I had my way, there would be no private number blocking at all. These pricks think they have control with their blocking. There is no good reason why you need to block your number.
Due to some 'stalking' issues with an ex of mine I refuse to answer any calls that come up as private, all my family, friends, work, etc know that I use caller id before I answer the phone and are fine with this
I sort of need to answer them because there are others in the house and it could be something important from a company. The problem is that also pisses me off is people NEVER leave a message on the answering machine. I say stuff it. If they don't leave a message then it musn't be important.
Most of them are from phone spammers anyway wanting you to do surveys or donate money. We don't have a silent number but you can do it manually to block. ie. 1831 then the number.
hehe a bloke i work with gets private numbers calling his phone all the time. 90% of the time when he actually answers them it is someone calling up cos he owes them money
That is funny as Troy.He owes them money, but they hide their identity!

i hate private numbers, & i dont answer them, at all
What if its a hospital or a police calling you with bad news and they have a private number? Or your family, friends, work frineds have a accident and they ask someone to call you for some reason and you dont answer it?? No one seems to think of this and thats why i answer every call if its someone i dont want to talk to i hang up if they call again who cares its there money let them talk all they want hahahaha

Then they can leave a message if it's urgent, when the police contacted me recently regarding an incident at the venue I work at they didn't use a private number, I can't see hospital's blocking their numbers either
Yeah, I'd say most households have an answering machine of some sort. My Mum works at the Northern Hospital and those numbers aren't blocked.
But wait... There's more!!
But that's not all!!!

i ****ING HATE PEOPLE THAT USE PRIVATE NUMBERS!
Whats it gonna solve???? Why do it????? it causes to many problems and is of no use to anything or one.
on a side note however..... i may just use it to ring this **** of a cop who made a single mum friend of mine walk 3kms in the rain with 3 kids because her rego ran out and he wouldn't let her pay it via Bpay... its was 1 day out of date. He impounded the car.....Surprisingly, it was the same ****ing cop who wouldn't refer me to the defferal program because he "doesn't believe in it". Makes the police look like a bunch of tools.
aZk.
I never answer private calls.
We had this problem for a while, seems to have died off (hopefully). What I have been told is that most of the time it is from an automated call centre. They have your no. in a list, its dialled up by computer and if theres an available operator on the other end they'll take the call, if not they just they'll just keep calling back. I know what its like though, it should be illegal for them to do it, we we're also screening all private no. calls through our answering machine.
it is annoying wen people ring u and they have the private number thing on, but tis good wen you do it to sumone else, especially wen u ring the dominos and order pizzas to a random house down the street.
and then try get them out the back of the car while their at the door. lol![]()

he sometimes answers... and when he does he puts on a sob story
i just laugh to myself... thats what happens when you think its a good idea to go and put 40K worth of stuff you dont need on finance 2 months AFTER your parents bail you out of debt. goes to show that some people dont learn
the calls you are getting are either someone you have annoyed or a telco.
as for why some people need the private option? my brother is in the media and has more than once been harrassed by people he has had contact with. this is why he now has an unlisted, private number. even something as simple as calling the fish and chip shop was risking his number being available.
thats just one example, im sure there are many reasons.
to VUV6, that is criminal behaviour, not fun activity. save it for your own sadlittle life and dont brag about it on here.
And for the record, the police will never contact you from a private number. i found this out when i had a disgruntled kid member (i believe from this site...) calling at stupid hours claiming to be the cops. wasnt worth chasing up the pain in the arse but just having the cops know who it was in case it happened again was satifying enough....for interests sake!
Whilist i dont like private callers, i do answer them. its about respecting ppls privacy. i dont hide my mobile number or my house phone.
It's funny sometimes getting the Indian turkeys.
Got one recently that said... "Hello, I would like to speak to Mr or Mrs Blahblah" I said yeah, after recognising the Indian accent. He said "My name is Peter and..." I said your name is not Peter" He said "My name is Peter" I said no it's not, you're calling from India... He said "Yes I am an Indian..." I said "Goodbye" That was it.
Bloody Peter. Like really. You have probably seen the call centre crap reports on Sixty Seconds and ACA.![]()
