i just crashed into my own car!![]()
the story goes, im sitting at work and my boss come out and throws me some keys to one of the surveyors utes (old hilux) and tells me to take it down to the toyota mob to get it fixed and he'd follow in his beemer, so i go out to the ute, get in and try and start it....didn't start so i went in the office to grab a few more sets of keys (all the utes are hilux's) and tried them, anyway after a few failed attempts i finally get the right key, she starts and being manual i didn't have my foot on the clutch but had it in neutral, as you can guess the ute jumped forward right into the ass end of my car!![]()

boots stuffed and so is the bottom guard![]()
looks like im not going out for a while now, anyone have anyidea how much it could cost for a new boot and bottom guard?
God im a twit![]()
If its in neutral and you dont have your foot on the clutch it wont jump forward. It will only do this if your in gear without the clutch in.
Neutral + clutch = no hop
Neutral + no clutch = no hop
Gear + clutch = no hop
Gear + no clutch = hop
hahahah sorry, try a wrecker mate....
Some people say less talk more action, i say more torque less traction.
I think you should really check next time if the ute is in gear or not mate. Or better still, never start a car with a manual gearbox without the clutch fully depressed.
Don't know where abouts in Brissie you are, but I always found Salisbury Wreckers down past Marooka good when I lived there years ago.
You should always start a manual with the clutch in whether it's in neutral or not
Like if the gearbox is stuffed, it might be locked in gear in which case neutral will make no difference.
Although I must say I've forgotten to step on the clutch on odd occasions.
lol don't worry mate, I've made mistakes like that before. (Except I didn't crash into my car hahaha)
the thing was though, it was in neutral! i was shaking the stick side to side to make sure (like i always do) and it somhow just slipped in when i was fiddiling around with other keys
I would still try & claim it on your works insurance. The accident happened while at work in the companies vehicle.
hehehe .. Sorry to hear about it ... My brother once smashed into my car when it was parked out the front of my parents house (I was only 16 and he smashed into my first car).
He had a 1992 SSS Pulsar that was his pride and joy ... Damn thing was in great condition before he got his grubby little hands on it ... The car was owned by the Drug enforcement bureau ... It was stamped in the log books, and I don't know what was done to it, but boy did if fly ...
Anyway, he came home late from work one night, and while he was a little down the road, he decided to turn his lights off, when pulling in up the front (so he wouldn't wake anyone)... Anyway, my Mum and I were up watching TV, and we heard this big crash ... Anyway, we thought nothing of it, at first, and then decided to check out the front... There was my brother sitting in his car having a smoke... First thing he started screaming at my because my car was not parked over far enough, and was slightly in his spot ...
Damage to SSS ... Heaps ... Damage to my Datsun Pulsar ... Little dent above the rear number plate, that I was able to push back out with a block of wood and a hammer ... No damage to the paint either ...
I would try to claim it on insurance tho ... But if your boss is going to give you grief about it, or if you have to pay an excess, it is probably better to source the parts and fix it yourself... I have a friend that does spray painting, but since you are in a different state, can't really help ....
yea think i'll leave insurance outta this one and save it for somethng more serious, don't know how i'd explain it to them, but yea just going to go round to a few smash repairers and get a few quotes. I've heard good things about the mob just a few doors down so i'll see what they have to say.
think the next car i'll get will be a hiluxnot a bloody dint on the thing

I smashed my VN in the work car park about a month ago ... Did a little bit of damage on the rear door, and rear wheel arch ... Nothing too big.. I was able to push it out a bit, and re-paint it myself... Unless you know it is there, you don't notice it anyway ... But will fix it when I get around to spraying the whole thing ... We have a real tight car park, and I didn't feel like paying $500- $1,000 for excess for a job that a panel beater wouldn't even charge $700 (cash in hand)
