now im not interested in any of that "he shouldne have been stupid" crao, if anyone posts it i will tell them to f.uck off.
but my mate pulled a burnout behind a parked unmarked cop car today, it was only a little one but they still pulled out behind him and followed him, he turned off like 20m later, they didnt follow him. what i was wondering is, is it likely that they wont have pulled him over just letting it slide or cos he turned off, or will they send him a fine in the mail. and for a minor burnout (by minor i mean maybe like 2-3meters most) will he get his car confiscated over it?
was just curious cos was talkin about it on the way home.
cheers
if the car was going to be impounded it would of been when the incident occurred. they musn't of thought it was a big deal if they didnt pull him over straight away
Firstly, it doesnt matter how big the burnout is, a burnout is a burnout. Theres 2 - burnout, and agravated burnout. I got done for a skid around a roundabout and im talking like 1 millisecond long and have lost my license because of it.
Secondly, Its weird that they didnt pull him up and id say he has got away with it, but dont quote me on that. Normally theyd need some record to follow through the offense so unless they wrote out a offence slip while driving...
Cheers Mitch
if it was unmarked ... and it didnt pull you over .. what makes you so convinced it was even a cop car???
i'll qoute my 2nd favorite line a copper has ever told me.
"you can go from zero to the speed limit as fast as you like, but the second you spin those wheels, i'll have you for whatever your worth"
never late in a 3 0 .. uhhh ... intercooled turbo
yes i drive an mx6 turbo ... its probably quicker than yours.
In SA, The Road Traffic Act 1961 states that a person is guilty for misuse of a motor vehicle if:
(a) they drive a motor vehicle, in a public place, in a race between vehicles, a vehicle speed trial, a vehicle pursuit or any competitive trial to test drivers' skills or vehicles; or
(b) operate a motor vehicle in a public place so as to produce sustained wheel spin (of one or more wheels); or
(c) drive a motor vehicle in a public place so as to cause engine or tyre noise, or both, that is likely to disturb persons residing or working in the vicinity; or
(d) drives a motor vehicle onto an area of park or garden (whether public or private) or a road related area so as to break up the ground surface or cause other damage.
i'd assume they would have to pull him up on the spot.
maybe your mates burnout wasn't that impressive and he should do better next time![]()
He shouldnt have been stupid.
Why would you get your car confriscated or lose your licence? My mate who was on he's P's, was at a party one night and did a big burnout all of a sudden the cop's were right behind him and pulled him over. He was breathe tested at 0.004 and he also had neon light's under his car... In the end his licence was suspended for 3 month's... He still had his car but he wrote it off after doing a "squeeker" around a roundabout.
And another story, my mate who's on his P's got caught doing 137kmph in a 90kmph zone, it was double demerit's he was fined $1000 dollar's... This was 6+month's ago and he's licence still hasnt been suspended.
could have been an off duty cop.

My car was confiscated on the spot for 3 months (court case still pending) for alleged street racing. No speed limit was broken, no burnout from me or my friend was made, but the police heard a burn out and assumed it was us.
They saw us take off from a set of lights, they think too quickly, and doing speeds of no more then 120km/hr, but greater then the signposted 80km/hr. The first thing the officer asked when he pulled us over was "which one of you did the burnout". When both of us replied neither, he got a little aggravated... Long story short, they charged us on the spot for street racing, and impounded our cars for 3 months... But for some reason, on the impound form they only ticked "Street Racing" and neither of the "Burnout" or "Aggravated Burnout".
This was done by a constable, and a probationary constable also ...
Car is back out of impound tho and $800 later ... Grr ... The battery was dead flat, and I could not charge it .. So had to spend another $229 on a replacement, and on the same day I drove it out of the impound lot, the hydraulic line from the clutch split ... I am guessing that it was because it had sat for so long and was a little weak, then when the heat hit it, it just could not take it and split ...
Lesson learned ... Don't try and beat a sires of red lights by taking quickly off the mark ... (Cops were 3 cars back when the witness this alleged street race also, but there statement says they were 1 car back) .... Hmmmmmmm ....
So yeah, if it was a cop, the chances are he would have taken the car on the spot if he thought it was worth all the paperwork.
Probably a number of factors there, the police may have been off-duty, they may have decided it wasn't worth pulling the car over, etc because it would add to the paperwork at the end of the shift or it may have been so minor the police didn't hear it
If ignorance is bliss why aren't there more happy people around ?
What is the difference between a Burnout and an Aggravated Burnout?
Is it the amount of smoke / noise?
I like my roo well done

Guys!, if you get really soft tyres that don't make sounds when they are spinning you can get wheelspin anywhere and no one knows!
haha, i know the feeling with my old tyres.. they were BJT all rounders and would never "squeel", there is this hairpin bend on the way back from my work and sometimes I gas it up a bitNow with my new tyres (some bridgestone) they always squeel
so i cant do it if anyones around to attract attention.
good news and bad news about it for your mate
no the "cops" didnt get him on thew spot but if it did look to be on purpose they can choose to come collect his car anywhere upto 12 days after the offence (currently stands at 12 might be pushed to 1 month) theres still alot of grey areas about these laws in victoria especially after they had to be removed for a week after a stuff up in the law was noted (when first released 2 or more tyres spinning LOL) but that was quicly delt with
another being faced is if on double demmerit w/es or zoned time frames will impoundment also be doubled another one is the clause ppl are constantly fighting that when you are impounded the car is still in your total control and responsibility hence giving you grounds to stay with the car to see forth no damage is done alot of police now when imponding will take a series of pics from all areas of the car especially dodgy spots already on the car (eg peeling dints ect) and most towies now will take there own set of pics to so no lawsuits can be filed
as for this situation your mateis in i recon this time he will be pretty right but you may want to remind him next time the hero starts to show on him that does he really want to go thrugh this panic everytime he does a burnout
just some food for thought there
~~Nic~ says:
yeah feel dick tho
one of the reasons i lost my license was for causing serious rubber burning.. but if ur mate didnt get pulled over after doing it, he wont get anything in the mail.. its like speeding past a radar and not getting pulled over, if u dont get pulled over, you wont get done.
im unlicensed![]()

my car got impounded in NSW for an aggrivated burnout (putting oil under the tires) 2 weeks ago and i have to appear in court next week, does anyone know what will happen to my licence or what fines i will score, my car would have been impounded for 3 months but i wrote a stupid letter sucking up to the cops and i managed to get my car back tomorrow so does that mean that the fines will be less harsh or i will not lose my licence (by the way im on my p's so i only have 4 demerit points) can anyone help me please. It was a worth while linelocker though, i popped both tyresbut they took my bloody car for it

so ive found
hahaha mate tell your mate dont worry about it, i was shitting myself the other week because i saw cops on the freeway and the speedlimit was 40 (road works) and i didnt see it go down to 40 (its usually 100) and yeah i was so expecting a fine saying pay up and give us your license... but didnt happen so i guess if you dont get caught at the time and wait a week or two and if you dont get a nasty letter or officer on your door then dont worry....
dont worry im sure alot of people have, and if they havnt welllll us 3 have![]()
Well I'm in WA, and I got done for 'Reckless Driving', simular thing, I wrung my VL around a 'round about and laid some serious rubber. I got a court summons, 6 months suspension of licence and my P-Plates cancelled, that means I gotta re-sit my licence. I guess that may apply to you too being on your P's.... I agree, it sucks arse for a first offence....
