Default Rear P plates and tinting??

hey guys, i was at the servo tonight and a highway patrol officer was filling up, apon returning to his vehicle (i was in the shop) he approached my car, and started looking at it from behind

the word defected sprung to mind, (no rear tread, -%100 lol, cracked tail light, washers not working, too low at exhust manifold etc... id be looking at a majour for sure)

anyway, i walked out and said "is there a problem officer?"

he then replied with "yes there is, this is illeagle...." right now i think ohh ****,
he then went on to say "its illeagle to have p plates behind tinting"
i told him i wasnt aware that was the case, he reccomended moving it next to my number plate and said if i see you with it again ill be slapping you with a fine and 3 points, i then wished him a good night and he did the same..

this is the 3rd time this week i know of that this has happened to me& my mates in the same area...

any other P platers had this happen to them??? im soo lucky i got out of it with a warning...

cop once told me the same thing. pulled up beside me with the window down and said it. that was at the start of the year. i didnt move the p plate and havent had a problem since. from what ive heard you need to be able to see the plate from 20 metres away, so i checked it and i could.

on a completely different topic, get a dual exhaust tip for that car!

Pretty dark tint but I see a lot of cars with P plates displayed on the front only.

I guess ultimately it's your choice but sounds like you were lucky this time (next time you may get pulled over for the 'P' plate and then they find all the other things you listed wrong as well)
If ignorance is bliss why aren't there more happy people around ?

is your tint legal darkness? as if it isnt that could be reducing its visbilaty

supose you have red back ground and white P on your p plates so its harder to see though the tint, where here its white back ground and red P, so it shows up better

You're lucky.. I know someone who was slugged with 3 points and either $210 or $300 for having P plates up behind the darkest legal tint..

That's why a lot of riceboy cars (generally the cars with dark tints), you see P plates sticky taped onto the rear window..

the tinting came stock on my car, so im not sure what it is but its pretty dark, and my rear window was pretty dirty (due to water restrictions :P)

so it was near impossible to see, i know im lucky heheh, he also gave me a kind warning about my rear tyres to get new ones, but he didnt have a good look (lucky, because im nearly on wires)

As far as I know, in NSW it has been illegal to have your P or L plates in the windows since no later than 2000...

Correct. In VIC tho will still run them inside. What I dont understand is that if they can comment on the P plate they must be able to see it

All i did was screw the P plate in next to the numberplate (using the righthand screws). Then people can't just take them off like magnetic ones, and cops wont have anything to winge about.

Ive got darkest legal tint on mine and the P is pretty hard to see, at night you can't really see it at all.
Ive had cops sittin behind me a few times and never gotten anything.
Maybe jsut coz my car is too 'grandpa' for them to worry about

    But wait... There's more!!
