    Default optional 5ltr... your thoughts

hey all just wondering what your thoughts would be if there was an optional 5ltr aswell as the gen3 in the newer model commodores kinda like the 253 and 308. i know alot of people prefer the 5ltr over gen3 for different reasons or maybe some people just didnt want the bigger v8...

If memory serves, one of the reasons they stopped using it in the first place was that it would be too expensive to redesign it to meet euro3 emissions laws. Now they have to comply with the much more strict euro4, so I don't think it would be a viable option to use the old 5L. A smaller displacement donk isn't a bad idea, but I'm not sure there'd really be any benefit to it. They could source a smaller displacement version of the gen4 from the states easily enough but why would they?

well there is still 253 kicking around so obviously the were selling the smaller 8's but yeh looks like the emission laws would stop the 5ltr
