    Default computer ram?

    completely off the topic of cars, does anyone know how i can find out what ram i have and what to buy without opening my comp casing and seeing what i have?

    you can download a program called cpuz to see it

    you cna bring up the processor info in your control panel, click on control panel and go to system and all the details wil come up

    CPU-Z will tell you exactly what you have.

    Definatley go with CPU-Z
    its a very small download but it tells you everything besides ram. it tells you your motherboard,chip etc etc...
    do a google for cpu-z.you wont be sorry

    First question, did you get your computer pre-assembled or did you put it together yourself, because you can always check the quote for the PC or PC parts in the case of you doing it yourself...

    Everything you want to know about your comp can be found by following these steps.

    Go to Start Menu,
    Go to run
    Type in dxdiag
    Hit enter
    Now browse

    Exactly, although cpu-z is a nifty little tool, it's a little bit of overkill to use it when all you need to know is the amount of ram you have

    If you want something to help you decide what to do with upgrading etc, there is a tool called SiSoft Sandra. Kicks the nuts of everything else on the market - will review what you have, whether you need driver updates, what can be replaced and a whole lot more besides.

    Oh - and the lite version of it is free Can't argue with the price!

    computer was pre-assembled i know i have dual stick 512mb but i dont know what brand is most compatible ith my mother board. i will try minux suggestion and then boona's@walking_pace if i cant find what i want wil download cpuz,
