So with that, you should be able to work out the last VN number?

    Yes, assuming two things.
    a) He has an accurate figure for the amount of VN's made.
    b) The VN serial numbers were all sequential without any wacky sidetracks.

So assuming that 110770 VPs were built is correct, that means mine was number 833, I always assumed mine was in the middle of the batch.

    Well there you go. ;-)

What about update models, such as Calais Internationals that were made after VRs started production?

Well yes the production serial numbers with Holden are all over the shop.

I guess I'm looking at the main production run for the VP's.

Also the VS ute was sold from 1995 to 2000 right through the VT production run.

BUT if any one has a VP with a higher serial number I'd realy like to know.

Holden did something a little bit CRAZY at the end of the series one VP and made a Series one "update" that's what my car is, I'm guessing there was about 1000 or so made? but I'm not sure what date the update started on. That's what the option code A8Z means on my car, it seems they threw a few oddball cars down the line during this time just because they were showing off the IRS option or something?

Yep that was it. VN 1.5's

I guess yours is a VP 1.5 with the series II VP's coming on line early 93. (March?)

If you take the 19,089 Series II VP's made I get the start S/N for the start of the series II's at around the 626400 ish.

I'm not sure when they went on sale but the first series 2's were built somewhere around the 26th of October 1992 (I've read this info before) with exactly number 600,000 being the first series 2 VP unless I'm mistaken (don't think so ). Mine's a few days and about 400 cars before before that, the 1.5 VP's would have only been built for a very short time, I can't see it being more than a week or two

Well it fits with the numbers I've collected so far for the VP's.
    599500 Oct 92
    603567 Nov 92

So 600000 would be around the 26th October 92.

The update was from a Holden history page so I'll take your info as correct.

    Thanks for your input.
I only need a few more date points to complete the time line production of the Holden cars. So enter a serial number and year and the program will tell you approx what number Holden you have...

I know you already have the last VP number, but mine is 628601, so not far off the end of run.

Option A9P VP upgrade 21/12/92 from L613,684 on.
