Default should my fiancee be banned from driving a car?

my fiancee was driving back down to perth yesterday and thought the car was in her words "driving funny" it was also making some "strange noises".

not knowing anything at all about cars, she didnt want to stop and investigate so she decided to crank up her britney spears or something and try to enjoy the trip.

after an hour or so she thought she might have a flat tyre and when curiosity got the better of her and she decided to stop. when she walked around to the rear passenger side tyre this is what she found.... she drove nearly 100kms with this....

hehehe, i love her so much.. she makes me laugh sometimes

tell me about it! im amazed she could keep driving for so long without realising, the car "acting funny" is one thing but when the ass end is trying to slide off the road surely the alarm bells would start ringing...

thank god she didnt lose it though.. dont know what id do if the cops showed up at the front door instead of her. its a nasty piece of road too, if she had had an accident she would have been there for hours until i came to look for her because theres basically no traffic.

about 4 months ago i hit a couple of roos on that road and i was sitting on the roof of my car for 5 hours before she found me

ouch, still, ring around some tire places, you should be able to pick up a decent 2nd hand tire for a reasonable price ( sub $80 )

shes got too many crap girly cd's, if i destroyed one she'd pull another 10 out of the glove box to replace it.

i dont know what shes been doing to her car but all her tyres are stuffed, ill swap them with the ones off my work car tomorrow and then worry about getting new ones next week. stupid fords.

Before you all go thinking that it us chicks that don't notice these things....Guys can be just as silly sometimes!!

One night while driving 40k's sounth of Hobart, in my old VH with two guys who reckoned they knew more than any mechanic, nearly had us all killed.

While coming through Hobart I noticed this knocking noise that seemed to be either coming from the steering somewhere or the front drivers side wheel area. I mentioned it, and I got told that it was nothing and to keep driving. So i did.

Then after about 10k's, this 'knock' was getting worse and worse. And the more I mentioned it, the more I was told it was nothing, as "As all old commodores make this noise" was the mechanics verdict.

Then the steering wheels started shaking and jerking along with knocking noise. I'd had enough and said I was pulling over coz it just wasn't right. "Ffs, there's no point it's fine" "you're imagine things you silly bitch" "you don't know fkn nothing" was the response I got. So i pulled over anyway and my on board mechanics got out to investigate.

They checked under the car pulling on this and that, and still said everything was fine. Not convinced I got out, and had a look. I leaned on the drivers side wheel while I was about to look under the car. And it friggen moved! I looked again, and we'd lost 2 wheel nuts, and the other three were barely holding on. They were wobblier than any tooth i had as a kid. My other half (well, he was at the time) took the standards of my car to go do burnouts on, and put alloys on. Brilliant job he'd done at that.....Friggen tosser he is.....

Do us women have to do everything?!

There's more to this story, which includes some young guy wiping out the rear end of his mothers lancer on a guard rail, but I won't bore you anymore. Needless to say, the two know-it-alls heard about it ALL THE WAY HOME....

My wife came home one day saying the same thing, drove 20ks on a ALMOST flat tyre, but the tyre survived, I still don't know how because it only just had enough air in it to stop the rim bashing into the road by the time she got home. Not long ago I saw a woman driving a XD? Falcon with the muffler and rear section of the exhaust draging on the ground making old school F1 sparks on the road, she drove it like that for at least 30ks

My wife, (then girlfriend) had a brand new pulsar and decided to go for a trip to melbourne to take it for a run.
She checked the oil and water and with her mum on board she set off, about 20ks up the road she could smell something funny so being her father is a mechanic, she thought she should pull over to check as that is what he told her to do if she's unsure of anything.
Turns out she didn't screw the radiator cap back on properly, it pushed all the water out of the motor and nearly cooked it with 2000ks on the clock!
Needless to say when i asked if she was keeping an eye on her gauges she said "i don't look at those things!"

Well I know that if I hear noises in my car....I ask my partner whats wrong he says its ok honey its just this and it will be ok for another couple of years hahahaha...therefore i agree with Ivngal, guys think they know stuff but there just as bad as us....on a higher note im glad your girlfriend was not seriously injured, and that she is still here with you that could of been a nasty accident if she kept going any longer. ....and yes she should keep driving one incident should not stop her.

i think the brittany cd explains it well enough. its not a matter of not knowing about cars (thats what the RAC is for) its a matter of plain stupidity. had she lost it and hit someone else would be my biggest concern.

get her a roadside assist membership, a mobile phone and stern word about road safety.

Talking about plain stupidity, I got a good dose of that on the way home from work yesterday. A chick in a Corolla drove straight thru a give way sign and onto my side of the road, she drove into my car head on I dont know how she thought that the right hand side of the road was the place to be.

    Before and after pics.

Was talking about this on the AAMI drivers course and the guy reckons he got in a woman's car once (Golf) and it had the Oil Low Light on. He asked her how long it had been like that and she said "A While, i just thought it would go off on its own"

a mate of mine has some work done on his old VP, be had bottomed it out and stuffed the mounts for the engine transmission etc.
as he was about to drive off after catching up i noticed the black plastic dress caps on his wheel nuts were a little out, i went to give them a gentle kick to push it back on, it didnt budge... weird. so i got him to stop ( he was almost about to drive away for a 50k trip home ) and as i went to manually push the nut cap on the nut spun really loosly.

so we whipped out the tire iron and re-did it, then decided to check them all just in case. strangely three nuts on each side at the front were all loose! bit of a scary thought.

    The tyre looked finished anyway.
She should be commended for her driving skill (to get the car home) and maxing out on tyre life.

HAHAHA you guys have it easy! its a challange trying to keep my car safe!

since i now live in Hong Kong most of the time i have my old man (or dear old mom) to take my car to holden every 8 months for the oil change. anyway it went in for an oil change and it came back without the oil cap .... so i had to go back to holden 3 months later and get another one

later it was lent to my sis and her BF who filled it with unleaded (thank the gods not diesel). but they were told only premium goes in there ...... still ... the reason i know this is it came back without the fuel cap :@ never again will they get the keys.

i start doing my basic check of my old mans car in Hong Kong and the driver who had the wheels rotated didnt check anything and drove home (rear right wheel had only 2 nutz out of 5) WTF!!! seriously!!!

and recently i get a call from my sis (im in canada atm) "can me and my bf take your car to QLD" i sat there thinking .... "whats wrong with his car?" ... the responce "its being fixed" *alarm bells are now ringing* "what happened?" responce "engine ceased or something" silly pillock did his own oil change and didnt do up the oil valve so the oil he poured in .... magicly poured itself back out and so his engine turned into RS and they want to borrow my car....
not only this i get told how i should be trying to help her out ....

so yeah im surounded by idiots! (both male and female)
