Just wondering if anyone here has been to New Zealand recently. A mate and i are going over next june (2007) for a ski trip and was interested in hearing about things to do/see (besides skiing of course). What towns are worth going to, what pubs/clubs are good that kinda thing. I know its ages away, but im gettin excited already.![]()
anyway hope to hear about peoples experiences (if anyone has NZ experience lol)

Take me home.
North or South Island ? we've got quite a few fields in both islands.
i'd recommend the bungy jumping and white water rafting,
If your in the south island, Queenstown is where its at for touristy things, the big ski boat rides on the river, etc etc
North island has some kickass small towns, people are great, when you go south do not forget to say hi to baaahbara![]()

heading to the south island, landing at christchurch and staying there and queenstown. planning on about 5 days of skiing and another 5 or so just checkin places. We are more interested in action activitites (Shotover Jet etc) and night life than just sightseeing. Does the whitewater rafting run during winter? What sort of price would we be looking at for the shotover and rafting?
Holden2gether, pity i cant take my car over, we coulda done a cruize![]()
Cheers for the info. would like to hear any other suggestions

There is a heap of the extreme type activities to do in and around Queenstown, they have several bungy jumps, the shotover jet (power boats) and a fly by wire thing (a small plane attached to wires in a canyon).
Check out the tourist type sites and see what's going on around Queenstown, that way you can plan accordingly.
ditch the shotover jet idea, its way too expensive for something thats boring as hell. Go on the canyon swing -thats awesome.
heaps of nice little pubs and stuff in queenstown, and really cheap beer too! (oh and theres skiing)
NZ is fantastic, went a little while ago so the missus could see her family and i loved it.Did sight seeing got shown around the place(South island). We are going back next Xmas to show them our new son.Go you will love it.
went over back in July .Toured the sth lsland for 9 days & loved it . A must
do in Dunedin is the Brewery Tour !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hhaha stay away from stienlager..... wicked beer (i drink it almost every night) but the hangovers are horrible......![]()

Everything very expensive in queenstown ! Is cheaper for us north islanders to go to Aussie![]()

It's cheaper for us South Islanders to go to Aussie too,you don't find too many Kiwi's in Queenstown unless they have a large bank balance.
I'm probably biased but I reckon the ski fields in the South are better, got a couple of good public fields about an hour out of Christchurch (Mt Hutt & Porter Heights) so don't forget to get abit further north than Dunedin!
