hi, i got an mechanics apprenticeship job interview tomorrow, does anyone know what i should expect other than the why do you want this job, tell us about yourself etc
if its anything like when i went for mine there was a table full of parts and i had to identify them.
They probably will ask some mechanically based questions to test your knowledge
If ignorance is bliss why aren't there more happy people around ?
hym when i went for mine not long ago for a app they dont expect u too know anything, as long as ur willing. even when i did my work exp he goes we dont expect u to know anything as thats the hole point in an app, its all about learning.
Always In Construction Mode!!!!!![]()
you shouldn't have to point out what parts are their cause thats why you're getting an apprenticeship i presume?
background knowledge is a help. but most bosses will want a person that is prompt, can listen and remember very well, and do exactly what they are told. afterall you are their little b**ch for the first year until you can prove you have got the incentive to take on something bigger.are you going for a job at a dealer or private?
Its a common miss conception that people actually use their brains before they speak.
hey andyman is that at corbans automotive by any chance?

Well done buddy. You will start your first year the exact same time i start my second.
Good point, well there was a panel of 3 people and they just had sheets of paper with questions and they took it in turns in taking questions, questions i got where, Why would you like this job?, What would you contibute to working here? What qualities do you display? Whats your understanding of OH & S? Are you prepared for working in confined, smelling places? Are you prepared for overtime? Are you committed to going to tafe. thats about as much as i can remember. I didn't have to identify any parts of a car aswell.
Anyhoo the people were very nice and we had a nice pleasant discussion and i wasn't nervous>(luckily), when i got there they showed me around the depot to give me an idea of what happens there, theres a lot of other council divisions in the same area.
In the end im happy i got the job and now i don't have to go to school next year
b.t.w the councils fleet car are mainly made up of commodores, and i get to drive them when i get my p's
Andrew.
hey man is the depot at the council chambers? or somewhere else in town?
