Am I wrong to think that for true equality of the sexes, in general conversation I should be free to speak to a woman, just the same way I speak to a man.
Colin
Just as a note, this post was inspired by an accidental discovery that a conversation I was holding with a quite rude person via email, turned out to be a woman. I realised that I only questioned the content of my return emails when I discovered this!
I am not a sexist, my daughter will grow up strong and free. (heh, and beautiful)
i wouldnt dare speak to a woman as i do to my mates, i call my mates ugly and stupid just joking around, but if i said that to a female look out WHAMM!! women take comments about apppearance and mental capacity (they always seem more agro 1 a month who knows why...)
hahaha nope, i dont talk to my chick mates the same that i talk to my male mates, ok i believe men and women have equal rights but i call my male mates sluts and whore's and all that shit, so i dont think it would be good to call my chick mates them names, hahaha so they dont get different treatment, i just express my friendship differently with the two genders, hope that made sense? hahaha have fun![]()
hahaha i just treat all the same.... well apart from the missus.... theres just some things you cant get away with there
Japanese scientists have created a camera with such speed that they now can photograph a woman with her mouth shut!
Theres no equality in the world today and women have learned how to milk this fact!
well as a gal my guy friends treat me the same as they treat each other.. they dont call each sluts and whores so i dont get called stuff like that, but if im havin a bad day theyll tell me.. and we all play fight and theyre not scared 2 hit me.. dont think i get hit as hard thou unless i ask 4 it!and i treat them the same as i treat my girl friends.. well i TRY to anyways... hahaha
im unlicensed![]()

For the most part, women have spoiled us men, and we are not usually the brighter light on the block between male and females. Women have the finessee and honesty to wield power without turning into egomaniacs. Do you notice in history, when we men became rich, we go out and try to beat someone up or conquer a city or something.
No. I do not believe there is true equality. In some ways we men have an easier ride. Until men start to get pregnant and have montly PMS cycles, life is unequal. But you know, I strongly suspect that women have been manipulating us for all of history, because deep down, most of us guys are just glorified cavemen. At least we get to act like we run things

i talk to all my female friends the way i talk to my guy friends, it makes for some VERY interesting conversationsI was talking to a girl on msn and the next day she saw me and slapped the crap out of me, going "I, DIDNT, WANT, TO, HEAR, ALL, THAT, CRAP! YOU, FREAK!" or something along those lines :P
HAHAHA OWNED!
I don't really treat male and female friend the same, I keep to a very close knit crew, the guys I can be quite rude and abrupt with and they return fire, but with girls it's... well... the same, but not as much... if that makes sense

i talk differently to my male mates as female friends. i cant call a girl "mate" it doesnt feel right, i find it a little boganish to do so.
at work i can laugh about different things with the guys than the girls. just how it is, we look different, we talk different, we have different emotions, different needs and different lives..... why should there be any equality?
I treat em all the same.. They all have a sense of humour (well most of em) obviously there is certain things you cant say to the female race but.... Meh, they get over it! My girlfriend does the same to all my mates and vice versa! Me and my mates play pranks on the girls and they give it back just as hard! Ist all in good fun, you shouldnt take shit so seriously.
I have yet to reconcile the idea, that equinamity and equality means treating everyone the same. I do not buy it. There are a couple of studies done that shows that men and women speak in completely different languages. In other words, the same phrase uttered by a male, means something completely different when expressed by a female.
Let's be honest, most of us guys have a caveman edge. Most of the deep intellectual conversations I have with females are honest and direct. I recall a woman telling me that there was a situation where she actually wore her b/f's underwear. I do not see a male saying that in converse. Women are more comfortable showing their true feelings, yet be pragmatic enough to recognize the situation. I once had a female friend of mines, she wanted to jump my bones, but she recognized that sex would really complicate things. Her honesty helped me do the right thing.
I recognize the strength of women, not cause I am understanding, but because I have seen their strength. Some of my greatest icons are women (mother, grandmother, sisters). Their honesty awes me and keeps me in check in their presence. If a guy gets in my face, I probably put my foot up his ass, but I would listen to a woman unprotestingly. Before you jump the gun and call it inequity, I would fully admit there may be some chauvinistic chivarly in that sentiment, although most of my teachers were women. It is just sometimes there is a magic between a man and a woman that is compromised when we start treating them like guys. But in more ways than one, women fascinates me into blinding mesmerism and they easily placate the Neanderthal in my psyche.
The bottom line is I do not think that treating women like men is about equality. After all, you do not treat your fish like you treat your cat, is that inequality? I do not have the answers on how equinamity should work, but I think we should keep exploring, because this is not the answer. It sickens my stomach to hear men calling women deragotary names casually. Of course that is a reflection of the man, not the woman, but it is still disconcerting. Just some reflective thoughts on the topic.

exactly what i was trying to say, well said!
talk like you mean it, talk like normal
i do!
You had me laughing when I saw the post. But lets be honest, you are right. Teaching is a girly job. The more serious implication is that it is less than a male job in some ways. I mean, the nursing profession like teaching, was once thought to be a girly thing too. Calling a man a nurse, was once considered insulting(that is why we say male nurse). Maybe we just do not take women serious enough and we force them to act like men to be taken seriously. Take Margaret Thatcher, the woman had to act like her balls were bigger than her husband's to be taken serously. Maybe equality is changing our impression of women. After all, not all of us were designed to piss standing up.
By the way, I know you were joking, so I am not accusing you of sexism. I just used your post as an illustrative focal point.

I believe true equality of the sexes will be when there is only one public toilet (well maybe two if you count the handicapped toilets!)
