    Default Panel beater or Paniter???????

typeo, painter not paniter, please fix it as i was in a rush and dint get to proof read it, cheers

I have recently finished my schooling education, two years ago i signed up into a school based traineeship which i worked a day a week minumum at a work shop
i gained SACE points for doing a certain amount of hours which went towards my year 12 points, i got all my points and pased the course which was set up that at the end of it you would be offerd a apprentceiship.

now have been offerd a apprentceiship,
i will automatically start as a second year as the course knocks of a year my apprentiship and in the long run will turn me into a tradesman with more qualifacations then the normal person whom just has become a tradesman

so here is my problem, i am having problems decising which side to take up,
    painter or a beater???

i enjoy doing bother equally enough and it is hard to split to one. a saying is "a panel beater can paint but a painter cant panel beat", i have seen that this is genrally true soo that is tending to make me lean to the panel side and plus less panel beaters are in the trade so it makes a trademan in more demand.

so im wanting peoples opinions and views to help me make a decision, i know it is ultamitally my decision but i am having a really hard time deciding as i find the both fun and enjoable work as.

    any help would be apreciated

So far you've done a bit of practical work in both fields and enjoyed them both, both only short term experiences though. What you've got to ask yourself is which of the two jobs will I still feel passionate about after doing it for 5-6 days a week for the next ten years to a lifetime.
Personally I'd go with the panel beating,I imagine it could get a bit monotonous rubbing down panels ready for painting & your work would end up getting covered up by the painters skills. But on the plus side you get to work with a variety of different shapes and vehicles each day & for me there would be a great sense of pride after straightening what was a completely bent vehicle into something that was either the same or better than when it left the factory .Painting, once the skills are mastered, would be a similar experience for each vehicle, just the colour would be different. But then on the plus side here you can take pride in the end result as this is what the customer will be seeing and judging.
Good luck with your decision and enjoy your work! Sometimes it's only thing that drags you out of bed in the mornings

yes, a painter spends 95% of the time sanding...how much do you like sanding? lol
that being said, they both have pros and cons, it would really have to be up to you in the end. but i know a mate of mine who i went to school with became a painter and he earns a lot of cash these days because he has a very good reputation for his work. he can do a freelance job on the weekend and take about 3-4grand in cash.

I would go with the panel beating. There would be a lot more variation in the work & the skills I believe are harder to learn than painting. The other thing is how good is your eye for color? The hardest thing about painting is the color matching & blending, so if you dont have an eye for the color variance, it will be harder to progress into the field.

if it was me id do panel beating cuz at the end of the day u wont be so frustrated cuz u take ur anger out on panels... haha
but painters do get some variety... but ye as vt1538 said, u gotta have a good eye.. and u could get variety by slidin in2 airbrushing or something.. meh i dunno.. what gives u more of a buzz?
