My son is in a band ( My Own Enemy. Check them out on myspace.com )
and they have recorded a few songs in the lounge room the other day and the vocals are a bit overpowering , i was wondering if there are any music programs that i could download that i could use reduce the vocals and just play around with different effects ?
Cheers Dayvo
there are three types of people in the world , those who can count and those who can't
When studio recording is done, all the istruments are recorded using different channels and they are then passed through varios effects units then mixed together. When your recording was donw im assuing it is a single track mix... you can alter it abit using a 32band eq but it wont come out how you want.. the best way is to record using a program like pro tools and then mix it together later... its hard starting out..
aZK.
OK thanks for the tip

Much better off to record the tracks individually and then mix if you can (theres a lot of programs similiar to Pro Tools around for home recording on the PC)
At the moment though you could try running the tracks through a program like Audacity that has a lot of filters, removers, etc or something but as azkwazere it won't come out as well as if it was multi track to begin with
If ignorance is bliss why aren't there more happy people around ?
what did you use to record it? and what medium is the recording on now (tape, cd,etc.)?
because that limits what you can do to the recording and whether you'll be able to reduce the vocals level.
even on a single track recording you could still fix it up, but it depends on those things.
my band and i just use multitrack studio its free and easy to use also got sony soundforge and acid pro wicked programs for tweaking your audio afterwards.A tad expensive .
