Arrow Driving across Australia . . . twice.

What do I need / should i have for the trip??

As it stands, my VX Clubsport bodykit should be fitted by then, albeit unpainted . . . http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/...ad.php?t=42244

What I've got on the list so far . . . (will be updated as suggestions come in)
    Bonnet protector
Headlight protectors (I hate the look of both of these things but I think for this trip they're a necessary evil)
Towing gear - Cogez is driving his VP Calais over with me . . . can't hurt, just in case . . . even though I won't have a towbar because of the kit lol
    Spare fluids, water
    Toolbag
    Spare drive belt
    Spare fuses
    Mobile & charger
Extra/spare globes - headlights, taillights, high beams
    Trolley jack
    Spare wheel
    Torch
    Toilet paper lol
    Radiator hoses

Think of anything else I might need?? PLEASE let me know. I'm leaving on Dec 19th.

    Cheers
    Sammy B

spikes on the front of the car to catch kangaroos/hitchhikers! Mobile phone with car charger. Duct tape to quieten the noise that seems to come from passenger seats fitted with the girlfriend/wife/children option. I drove my Kombi from Wilsons Prom (South most point of mainland) to Byron Bay (East most point) to Bamaga (North most point). I was too scared to even carry a car jack in case it invited my car to get as flat! Was just my guitar my dog and me!

Good call. I have a bunch of spare fuses - I'll throw them in the glove box.

spikes lol - I'm already worried about kangaroos and things because of my brand new bodykit . . .
Got a car charger for my phone too, it never leaves the car.
Won't be needing duct tape - driving alone (^-^)

As for roos, yeah they sure do have me worried . . . if only the VN V6 came with better damn brakes lol

When we drove the XR6T back from SA banged a few on to see if they worked. Few hrs in we see a kangaroo hopping towards us then all of a sudden stopped dead in his tracks. So IMO for sure, even if they dont its piece of mind for $5. Another mate is getting his XR6T from VIC next weekend so ill be going with him. Already packed a set ready to be put on the car when we get there!!!

Shame roadside assistance (particularly NRMA) don't cover "accidents including kangaroo strike", They'll only come out to lend a hand/tow if she's stopped of her own accord. That said, yeah good idea. The duct tape is also a must I reckon, even if not for the reason suggested.

Only problem is when it causes the buggers to panic and stop right in the middle of the road.

South Australias version isn't like that thank god. The RAA came out for me when I had the motorbike hit me. Also when I managed to hit a medium strip at 4am on a sunday morning a few months ago and popped two tyres

Perhaps one of those battery chargers.... As in the mobile jump starter packs.

I have one. It charges off the car battery while you are driving (plugs into the cigarette lighter) and it lasts for a long time. You can also plug things into it, using it as a portable power source. Plug a small fridge in, your phone charger etc. etc.

    Pretty handy in my opinion.

I'll have a new battery by the time I leave . . . that should be a non-issue. Key word: should. lol

Cogez will have his car there too, so we'll be sorted in the jump start department. He's got a set of leads. I don't carry them - my car never breaks down . . .

get yourself a portable esky, and wack it on your front seat. go to your local servo and get some ice, and get about 3 bottles of coke.

the ice should be good for about 6hrs (if you have air con on)

you can also wack some food in there, some fruit and even put some pizza in al foil and put that in there too.

that way everything you need is right in your left hand!

good plan. Cogez has a car fridge so that'll be mad. we'll just stop every couple of hours or so. or even better - i'll pull up next to him and he can launch stuff in my general direction lol
