Now i have asked can i put this up in the site feedback section,

I have a forum which is just for a good chat, called Street Rides, Mainly for All holdens.

Lookin to get more members be good if anyone joins or say already if u have,

In theory it's a good site, and I don't want to sound like a total prick but there's some considerations:

- What are you offering people that they can't already get here? By asking people from here to join you know these people already have an automotive based community they're a member of and at the end of the day they'll probably be more likely to come here than there, either because of the high volume of people already here that will be able to have discussions and know they're likely to get a response and people might not want to double post into two sites.

- vBulletin is a commercial software which costs money, but it contains better features than the standard phpbb installation, if you really want to get serious you might want to consider purchasing vBulletin or looking into something like phpbbfm which has an extremely large amount of add-ons built in.

- Your theme. It's a nice theme but looking at it, to me gives the impression the site isn't very professional (not so much the theme as the website banner, it's an alright banner but it doesn't blend at all with the theme)

- This is something I wouldn't have thought of but it is something that people don't like (because this issue was brought up with me about my site) - over moderation. Is it really necessary to have so many people in power at the moment? Also showing everyones names underneath each forum when everyone's a moderator of everything seems like a waste.

- Who is the site targeted at? By looking at it I would guess Holden owners and drivers only because you have specific Holden forums but no others. Also what is "Team HKDZINZ Designs"? If I owned another make of car and saw the site like that I would hit back assuming it's not for me. Maybe you want to add a forum description to the top to let people know what the site's about.. because with a name like Street Rides it sounds like it's for all makes of cars, not specifically Holdens

Look at the other Holden based forums and look at what's happening there - why are they so successful? Because each offers something which the others don't, or they specialize in a specific field

- JC: Most user friendly and most members
- SC: Advertising in the magazine, everyone recognizes it
- LS1: Website specifically for modern V8s
- GMH-Torana: Not sure if they're still around but focused specifically on the Torana
- CT: Focus on only one type of car, VL commodore

If you want SR to become really big first you'll need to research and find out who your specific target audience is, and you'll want it to be an audience which isn't already spoiled for options because people will usually always go for the bigger sites which huge Internet presence.





EDIT: And by coming here asking people to join you might have one or two who come back and post again, but most would be joining and never coming back.. I think your best bet would be other forms of advertising, sponsor something local or whatever, maybe move the site to a dedicated host with your own domain name (if I had to remember http://streetrides.20.forumer.com I wouldn't be able to)

Still - I joined and I'm trying to make every effort to come back and post but there's no new threads or posts of interest to me at the moment

nah its ideas,

1. we are still thinkin of ideas on improving the site

2. i have been looking in to it recently but why bother when no1 is gonna come on

3. that was just a design we got made up and another getting made at the moment

4. me and benji are admins which organise the site while i got charg'd and mattvn to mod and which these ppl will last for a while and no more will be added untill numbers are greatly improved.

5. It is targeted at all holdens, but originally planned for all makes which maybe change in the future, TEAM HKDZINZ desgins is the people that made that design for it at the moment and will be making another one with him. still got to add a description of it soon.

yea it is a site with anyone owning a holden and gives older people with older holdens to discuss about theres aswell and to know when events are on etc.

i know the name of it is long but most ppl that are on save it to there favs and there no use in buying a domain if no one is using it.
