Heres some pics of melbournes sky today, not the best pics but you can kinda see.
P.S yeh i know my pool is empty & my lawn needs mowing, anyone wanna do it for me?
I couldn't almost breathe this morning. But it's better now.
It was very smoky in the west of Melbourne too this morning! It's cleared up a bit now though. It was really strange for me as it's the first time i've experienced this sort of thing.
its still pretty bad in narre warren, i feel sorry for the fire fighters dealing with it
It doesn't really make sense to say that.. i feel sorry for them... thats there job, i mean they enjoy that sort of thing. If they didn't they wouldn't do it. Same with coppers... i mean people say that they feel sorry for them having to deal with that... well i dont, im happy that they are doing what they enjoy. Fighting crime. THey want that, they get, good! i mean they want to fight fires... they enjoy it... meh...
The smkoe it pretty bad on the peninsula
aZk.
This is what it was like just after 6 am last Tuesday up here in the North East of the state near the NSW border. Could easily look at the sun through the smoke without squinting. Has been the same or worse every day since, & at times nearly as bad inside the house as outside.
Yeah true nomad. Last night I saw what would have been a white moon, was orange. You really see the effects showing.
Yea, im with you. I have family and friends in the CFA. They join not only because they enjoy it but because somebody has to do it. It certainly isnt what most people think. You are put in dense bushland with dead scrub all around and a cliff face behind, they have to wear hot clothing to protect them selves and have to face 60+ degrees heat just to try to save the communitys around the fires. Not only do I feel sorry for them in the current heat and conditions I applaud them, and so I should I live south of the fires in gippsland and guess where they are heading.
this is what we have in Dromana at the moment, normally when the trees stop there is nice blue water...
I'm located in the Dandenong ranges and it has been pretty smokey up here as well. But was especially bad this morning. This is the view from my back patio.
It has cleared a little since this morning though

i think everyone should applaud them
this is the sunset looking back over Arthurs Seat
i wasnt awake this morning to see it, but a couple weeks ago, me and some mates went out and we were on the western ring road going towards the city and the smoke was that bad it gave me a sore throat.... i would put up pics but i didnt take any![]()
i gotta admit i know the fires are bad but it made really weird crazy conditions for go karting this arvo at ace go karts

yeah feel dick tho
wish i still had pictures from the canbera fires a few years ago. it was unbeleivable. i remember orking on th northside of canberra when they hit. we didnt know what was going on cs we had the CD player going. one of the dudes i work with got a phone call fom his (now) ex wife saying she was scared the house was gunna burn down. we put the radio on and there was a warning alarm and it said houseswere lost in a few suburbs. we walked outside, look to the south and there was a massive plume of smoke.
my house lost power for 3 days and there was ash and half burnt leaves everywhere. i remember driving through the suburbsthat were burnt out about a month later and words cant discribe it... it was like a war zone![]()
Yeah true Troy. Anoyone who watched the news that year saw what went on. Just last year the same crap is happening here as this year. It's going to be a bad year for bush fires. I can feel it like everyone else.
I've been working in melbourne all week, could really smell the smoke today i thought, i was working out in bundoora and the landfill site where i was working had to stop some work cause of the smoke, pretty bad.
They were saying on ABC radio up here today that this is expected to be the worst bushfire year that Victoria has ever experienced. Even worse than the 1939 fires, Ash Wednesday, or the 2003 fires that raged through the North East & Gippsland areas. There was also mention that they could burn for weeks if not months if we don't get any rain.
Dr Bob, I was around there today. Couldnt see the line where the water met the sky it was so hazy, It looked really good though in a way. Just hope everyone is safe during these fires and that damage is minimal
But wait... There's more!!
But that's not all!!!

VT Calais II... The Italian Stallion
well last night i went to the beach, and i was talking to this 1 guy from around gippsland and he was saying his expecting to go back to an ash top if it gets any worse.... that would hurt loosing your house...![]()
When I woke this morning I went outside and had a look around. All my cars have ash over them, I couldnt see very far down the road and the main noise I can hear is the cfa hellicopters. The nearest towns to me have CFA crews standing by waiting for the fires to make there way out of the hills and onto private land today.
