Default ARGGGGH! had to pick on someone.

hey people, and no this is not another "im a p plater, there picking on me thread" but this one is just plain BS, well im on holidays so obviously i dont have to be home early for school, so i had a car full of mates, just cruising around melbourne, going anywhere and everywhere, was fine all night until we were cruising in st kilda, taking random streets like we were all night, and we were in a car park, and there was some prosties, and some guy in a vl done a burnout and nearly hit 1 of them, and we saw this and were like wtf? were driving past the prosties and she says to us the cops are coming blah blah blah and were like ooook den*confused* we continue to drive and the cops come into the car park as were turning to leave, he flashes the lights, i stop and be nice, average proceedure.... and the asshole tells me to get out of the car, and his like the sargent would like to talk to you, and im like ok sure no problem and he starts asking me about my life and what i want to do and all that shit, i give my information because i have nothing to hide, then he asked to see everything in my car, made my mate empty my centre console, glove box and almost had a fit because i had a screw driver on my passenger floor.. and he wanted to see my boot, so i showed him... he ask me whats in the bag and i show him and his flashing this light in my face and giving me attitude because he was expecting something i didnt have, and his like to my mates what are you doing around here at 1 in the morning, and there like just going for a drive and his like on a school night? and there like noooo we finished, were on holidays now ... he got pissed off about that.... and then his like ok you have seen the bright lights of st kilda i suggest you get out of here before i find your car unroadworthy (he then flashed his lights on my tires and my guards, was low because i had a full car)... and im like yeah sure mate no problem, and he gave me a greasy and got back in his car and i got back in mine and took off...... i just want to know, why are there such F*CKHEADS around? we were just crusing, not makin any problems.... AND Y did he assume i had a criminal record because i had my p'z? his like oo p'z, have you got a criminal record? and im like no chance, its clean why you ask? and his like no reason and yeah, i just wanted to get that off my chest and ask why i got pulled over? OK! it looked sus, we where in a car park with p plates just after someone did a burnout but why didnt he just say can i check your tires mate? and see that i havnt done burnouts and leave me alone? ARGGGGGGGGH! ok dats all ive got, just needed to get that off my mind.. i would of been so pissed off if he gave me a canary... ASSHOLE! people like him who make the good cops look bad...

    Default Just for a moment...

Unfortunately cops are people too. They make snap judgements, and quite franlkly just like some of us are assholes, some of them are too. The bottom line is just to keep your cool. Don't let him pull your strings. Be pleasant and objective, as he is asking things that are within the law. If you stay pleasant and objective, he may realize that you are not the stereotypical hoon he originally thought you were.

The bottom line is, doesn't it feel great to drive away in a pleasant mood from someone who were trying to get you angry. It is not your fault he didn't get sex for the last few weeks .

Motor Vehicles Act allows the cops to search a car without any questions. However they didn't have the right to make you open your bag, that is your property and i don't think you would have to open that if they asked (or told you to)

I had a cop cut me off in a roundabout once. I expressed my disgust in his driving ability so he pulled me over trying to accuse me of "speeding" into the roundabout. I told him I was doing about 30kmh and he kept calling me a "f**king liar". I told him to prove to me that I was speeding and I will be ok with it. He knew he had nothing so he let me go. He was the biggest asshole. I have been pulled over before and faced pleasant cops who are just doing their job. Fair enough, I am ok with that. But when a cop pulls me over for a bit of a power trip, then its ridiculous. This is the kind of cop that gives other cops a bad reputation. Its a hame.

What happens if your car is in a bag, do they have the right to search it then?

dude - the cop was being an ass because he suspected you of being dodgy, unfortunately, sometimes to do their job they come accross as asses! usually once they realise that you're not up to no good they become nice! (unfortunately not in this scenario)

oh, and congratulations on being the FIRST P plater with a car full of dudes talking to hookers in a dodgy carpark in St Kilda to be completely innocent of everything heheh

What ever happend to innocent untill proven guilty? i find it's guilty untill proven innocent.
I don't think it's right that a cop can pull you over for the fun of it and start rummaging through your car, i got nothing to hide but stuffed if im going to empty my car then have have to put it all back in just because he had nothing better to do then terrorise some young fella, it's just not right.

the worst thing is, i've heard if you say no to them, then they will litterally strip your car (find nothing) then piss off leaving you there with a stripped car and a nasty attitude.

btw if this does happen, they find nothing and have just screwed you around for the last 1/2 an hour on NO reasonable cause, can you have somethng done about it?

well on today tonight i saw people who managed to get banks to pay them for waiting in line so long to keep them with that bank so maybe you can charge to cops whatever you get payed at work per hour.
    so i earn $17.38 P/H so 1/2 is $8.19 doesn't sound bad to me.

Well, the street walkers in St Kilda are illegal and if you were there at 1am in the morning then the police would probably have a right to be a little suss

Still no reason for him to give you attitude like that, obviously having a bad night
If ignorance is bliss why aren't there more happy people around ?

Mate, hang around an area where you know there is illegal stuff going on and you are asking for trouble.I dont think P plates would have made a shit of difference.
Now im known for not being on good terms with the cops, but you were in a bad area and i personally dont think you were treated all that bad.
Oh and i wish i was on holidays too.

haha yeah i like holidays but i would much rather have a job atm, but the thing is we went everywere that night, like we didnt know there was pro's there so we all started laughin when we saw that, then we were like wtf when that guy almost hit the prosty in his car, if she didnt move he would of got her.
but i think he thought i did the burn out. and he practicually told me piss off or he was going to canary my car after it.
but could he measure how low my car is with people in the car? or would they have to get out? even though it would of been legal because its pretty high,
but what was with almost cracking my window? flashing a light in my eyes? and just being a complete dickhed even after i showed him everything and didnt object?
i get the point i just happened to be in a bad place at a bad time, but why the asshole attitude even until i got in the car? when there was proof that i wasnt doing anything wrong? hahaha i guess calais_304 is right, more like guilty until proven innocent...

I am so sick of hearing people whinging about police doing there job. get there **** over it. It is what we pay them for. You were in a place where 1. Hookers were. 2. Burnout had just taken place. Any half wit would of realised that if police came they would be in for target practice.

Christ, stop whinging about them doing their job FFS.

haahaha noooo didnt you read? im not pissed off that i got pulled over(im actually over it now), honestly if i was him i would of done the same....
what i was annoyed about is the fact the even though i cooperated and was willing to empty my car out for them and was doing everything they said, one of them almost busted my back passenger window when he "knocked" on my window when my passenger window was down? (looked today and there's a scratch, BASTARD).
they asked me why i had tools in my car? COMEON! that is the dumbest question ive ever heard in my life, why else do you have tools in your car? (that took ALOT of holding back from being a smart ass) and flashing the light in my eyes like a couple inches from my eyes, you know how bright them lights are? i was getting that mixed colors vision for like 5 mins AND THEN even after everything and he had no proof that i done the burnout and he practically told me to piss off or he was going to give me a canary....
    how would you feel? BTW
-the people who did the burnout i saw them speed right past the cop and he didnt do nothing? what was with that?
    - my car had 5 people in it, lets say roughly 70kg average, 70x5=350kg
-he saw my gas tank when i showed him it, my car cant even do a burnout with no passengers on gas, how would it do it with 3 extra people?
so im not pissed off because he pulled me over, i was pissed off because he treated me like complete shit even after i gave 100% cooperation, damaged my car (he would have no problem adding that scratch on my window to the canary list if he could) and he treated my mates like shit.....
cops are supposed to set good examples to the public and lets say he didnt, if he was any other person without that badge (i dont care about the gun) he would of been a very hurt little person because i dont deserve that shit from anybody....... theres your reply minux

There is no excuse for ANYONE to be as rude as that asshole was. I don't give a f**k who you are or what you're wearin, we are all people and should be treated accordingly. Being in a position of power is not a license to treat ordinary citizens like animals and this f*ck up should be dealt with and made to sit at a desk for the rest of his career.

Padrickz if you managed to get the pricks badge number, car number or name then something can be done about the way he treated you!

I can see where you're coming from for sure mate, but it's a bit of a pickle for the coppers.... It'd be VERY hard for them to distinguish the nice innocent people to the people that HAVE just done something wrong... so they can't always come across and play nice - it's part of their job to be slightly intimidating, ask questions, get a bit of info etc.....

Imagine for example, that said cop may have heard on his radio about 2 minutes before he got to that carpark that someone had been stabbed by a group of kids in a p plate commodore in the area.....

he gets a call about a p plate car, lots of people, hookers, and a burnout in a dodgy carpark...

he goes to said carpark, investigates and searches the car, realises that it's not the carload of people that stabbed some dude, and they haven't done anything wrong.....then tells them to get on their way.......

I don't really see a much better way the coppers could have gone about it?!

there was no brutality, damage or anything crazy like that, they most likely got let off a canary , too! - sure it wasn't the most pleasent experience, but if they were the kids that stabbed someone, they'd be nabbed!

It's unfortunate, but if you're in a dodgy area at a dodgy time of night.... there's not much more you can expect!

I'll give ya that, but maybe when they'd finished with thier "interogation" they could have appoligised for the inconvenience and asked them to move on? Rather than tellin them to piss off before they get canaried? And I'd still be asking for my window to be replaced and my car re-tinited (if neccasary) and prehaps even an appology. I'm a bit of an ass myself but, and if someone's givin me attitude I'll give it right back, cop or not
