Hire Cars

Anyone use hire cars regularly? Or VY/VZ owners help? what kind of a beating do they get/can we give them? *grinz*

We are hiring a car to go to ceduna. I figure we will prob get a VY or a VZ, be base models I assume? Ive reserved a 'Commodore or similar' lol so Im seriously hoping its the commodore & not the similar! what are the chances Ill score a VE? lmao

Anyhoo, need to know a couple of things....
CD players standard? if so do they play burnt CDs?
& fuel consumption? Flat highway driving. we will do 2000K's round trip, so 3 tanks? or 4?
Cruise control standard?

cd players would be standard and they should play your burnt cd's you might just get 2000ks out of 3 tanks n as far as i knew i thought vt series II onwards had cruise controll as a standard in executive models, i highly doubt youll score a VE as most vz's havent even hit 100 thou kms yet which seems to be around the time they sell them and as far as thrashing them goes think of the poor dude that buys that ex fleet car at auction !!!

It is funny how people hire cars that they drive all the time(commodore owners hire commodores etc) do something different and hire outside of the box. My last hire cars have been aurions, damned nice cars. I plan on something by nissan in a fortnight when im in Sydney.

I hired a VZ exec from Avis about 2 months ago, cruise and cd are standard, can't comment on burnt disks (didn't try) but the economy was excellent, got about 400k's off half a tank, 1/2 suburban 1/2 hiway

and you have nearly no chance of getting a VE without specifying you want one... if they even have them

its going to happen anyway even if you said 2 people on condtion of hiring that there not to thrash its guts out, people will do anyway.

true that, its just like the amount of people in shopping centres who open there car doors and dent our pride and joy, they couldnt care less because theye ethier have an old bomb or a work car etc

a mate of mine hired avz ecec about 3 months ago open freeway driving came to about 7-6lts per 100kms

totally agree mate, these days heaps of peoples property get damage because little bastards have no respect for it. Just today i was out at the beach and people just walked all over my property, they are lucky i was too far away to yell at them.

My moto is treat others stuff how you would like your own to be treated. As for a rent a car get something different that you havent driven before

no option for a ford, I need a large car 'E class' I think they called it? & Avis here only have Commodore or similar, which I have now found out is a camry? WTF? They said prob will get a commodore as they have more of those.

I dont intend on giving it a real hard time, I just wondered how much of a hard time they do get? But Im told I have a lead foot..... *mumbles about her demerit letter in the post today*

the blaupunt standard system plays burnt disks but they do tend to skip from song 9 or ten onwards(in my vy anyway and the disks are good). Dont know about fuel in the 6 but i get about 9L-100 kays in my ss on the highway

Have played burnt discs in all the hire cars I've had with no dramas

If you have booked with Avis you will probably get a VE, last two cars I've hired from Avis have been VE's so most locations would have them by now (or perhaps because I'm an Avis preferred member I get one of the 'newer' cars ?)

well I booked thru webcar hire, as they were the cheapest. But they use Avis, so who knows what Ill get? Wait & see tomorrow I guess!
