    Default How do low profile tyres handle in the wet ...

    This is my first car with 18 inch wheels and low profile tyres .... i have noticed more road noise and feel small bumps more too ... but do these low profile tyres handle any better in the wet than if I had standard profile tryres the same width ?....

    Mine are no different, the 19's were the same. I actually find them a little better.

    shouldnt make much difference seeing as you have the same area on the ground.
    It's generally the tread/amount of rubber on the ground that helps with grip and low profile tyres should be the same as any others.

    Road noise or Grip aren't effected by having low profile tyres, its by the quality or the rubber you buy, eg, brand, compound etc.

    higher profiles have sidewalls that flex more and may be slightly more forgiving in the wet.

    i doubt you'd notice though.

    You wouldn't be taking corners at 100 with 15s and 4WD ride height tho. Usually low profile tyres come with a decent suspension setup aswell, which improves the overall handling of the car.

    I found when I had 17's on one of my previous cars that wind had more of an effect (went from stockies to 17's) as in the car moved a little more in windy weather, got used to it quick tho..
