just wondering if anyone has any wild animals/birds that come to their house to score a free feed?
we have 3 magpies that come around all the time. as i am typing this they are sitting on the back deck singing to let us know they are hungry. two of them are really friendly, they take the food out of your hand. the other one is a little more cautious. i might get some pictures of them if i can be bothered.
hmmmm.... the only pet wild animal is my missus in one of her real cranky moods ...
My uncle has a fox that is tame and comes and eats bread and vegemite sandwiches, then it disappeared for about 6 months. It then came back again and it had a little cub (pup) with it and dropped it in front of us. Her pup wasnt as tame as she was. He hasn't seen it for about a year now so think it must have died as it was fairly old.
My grandparents also have a tame magpie that comes in the backdoor and walks into the kitchen to the fridge for a feed.![]()

we have tinted glass on the front of our house and we get mynah birds that fly into our front windows all the time trying to get the insects
sometimes they actually go through the glass.
lorikeets that come and feed on the palm tree flowers
i've had to fish a couple out of the pool.
we used to have a big gum tree type of thing out the front which the flying foxes love to eat the flowers on.
so we had that cut down
also have heaps of geckos that hang around
had friends in queensland who had goannas bail them up at the doors for meat. that was cool
i fed a stray little furry ginger kitty today, he plays with my cats, i'm trying to catch him so we can bring him home, well, home is just across the road, but it is too dangerous when he continues to cross the street where we live, poor little thing
we got a peewee here that is always fighting itself in the car mirror .... most annoying is that it shats on the door ... and in nesting season it starts swooping at us too ... its been here for about 4 years ... fairly tame but still has to swoop in the nesting season ..
I saved a cat from my neighbours. They were abusing the poor thing and it was so thin that its stomach curved inwards from its ribs and it couldnt jump anywhere. But shes now put on weight and lives at our place now. Best part is she doesnt care about birds. We have so many wild birds that also live in the backyard on a continous basis. Its nice having wild life in your backyard especially since we also have a cat
well this isnt at my house, but at college there's a possum that lives in the tree next to the smoking area and it always comes down to try and scab food off people. its quite a brave little thing coming right up to people to get food.
its really uncanny because this is in brisbane (milton) and there's absolutely bugger all vegetation around, i always wonder what the hell its doing in the middle of a business district in the city.
We have 2 magpies that come and go. (mother and baby) They stay for about a month and they will eat out of my hand, Pretty cool. We also had a wild cat we saved a few years ago. It was an awesome cat (like a mini tiger lol)
the kitty is back, he ate alot more today, poor thing is outside crying...
i'm Hairy Eater's wild pet, SOB-SOB i'm not allowed to show you a pic of myself, i just got my asse kicked for my avatar even i was fully clothed.
picture of the kitty. hopefully when i return from holidays tonight he will still be there![]()
We've recently got a cat aswell, laughed when I saw this thread because its very coincidental I guess.
Not sure where it came from, we're guessing its next doors. Pregnant, black. Not really scared of my dog, my dog only wants to play, the cat wants to fight. But the cat actually walks towards the dog when the dogs sitting there wagging its tail.
We've given it some food and drink because its pregnant and had been sitting outside our house for a while, stupid idea, now its meowing constantly and annoying the hell out of me. It's a cute cat, black as midnight so I nicknamed it Jet. Jet Black it is. But I don't want it to be at our house when it has kittens.
So unfortunately its off to the pound, just have to wait a few days to see if the neighbours come home to claim it.
For christ sake people! Get your animals desexed and microchipped. Makes me angry when cats and dogs get out and their 'owners' don't give a s***. My wife works for the RSPCA and you see horror stories everyday. At the moment being cat season and post christmas the RSPCA at Yagoona are inundated with cats and kittens, therefore as soon as they get more they get put down straight away. Then you get poeple surrendering pets for the dumbest reason. Reason like "I've developed an allergy to pet fur to my 8 year old Labrador". Then the next day they buy another. Then you get ar**h*l*s who buy dogs and cats from pet shops for rediculous prices when you can get a pet from the RSPCA that is desexed, mircochiped and vaxinated for $200. People don't realise that most pups and kittens in pet shops come from places like pupply mills that are nothing more than a cage in someones backyard where dog and cats are kept to breed 24/7. I'd love to start seeing owners put down, not animals.
Just having a rant.![]()
Car theives should be treated just like horse theives and cattle rustlers in the days of the wild west... Hang them!
Don't be stupid. Power isn't measured by the size of your tacho
yeah i can vouch for that, im from nowra but go to sanga p all the time, went down there the other night, well like 3am and there were 2 roo's boxing each other, i stopped the car to watch haha it was awesome... we had magpies at our old place that we fed peanuts too, they loved em and it stopped the swooping problem we had![]()

well we don't have any at our new house, other than the aformentioned other half, or in my case, my 2yo daughter, but in the past we've had goannas at 2 places, didn't want to hand feed either of them, also had the usual roos, wallabies, snakes, geckos and neighbours pets. we had a spider living on a wall in our kitchen for about 8 months, my sister named it fred.

used to have a torny frog mouth that lived on our deck rail thing used to be able to pat it and shit, pretty cool, used to bark at us when ud walk past him during the day then at night he would fly way and return in the morning
A bird with a Kookaburra type mouth, the body size and shape of a duck, long legs and greenish and yellow feathers ate my fish.
We had the four goldfish for five years in a pond and they moved with us to our new place where they lasted just five days outside once the pond was installed.
I was trying to figure out how they vanished when this bird landed on the edge of the pond to look for more. One goldfish was 24cm long.
My Mum has magpies that visit and as kids we had crows, 28s, Bluetongues (Bobtail Skinks), Goannas, Frogs, Gilgies (like yabbis), Geckos, a Golden Orb Spider we also called Fred and many more.
These days we only have Frogs and Geckos in our garden.
