Default Heavy metal fans...what showsa are you seein' soon?

    Howdy Howdy.

I'm seein' Trivium on 26th of January...
Testament on the 8th of February...
Lamb of God on the 29th of April...

I can't wait to see Skolnick wail! Bein' a guitar player, he is one of my true influences.

    Anyone else goin'?

I'm seeing Trivium at Big Day Out in Sydney. Unfortunately they are on at the same time as the Butterfly Effect but I have already seen them a couple of times this year. I'm also looking forward to seeing Tool.

    Trivium are terrible....

The only metal concert I'll be attending in the upcoming months so far is Slayer/Mastodon.

I'll be going to Eric Clapton at the end of January.

Went to G3, Gamma Ray, Fear Factory, Gigantour, Danzig, Dark Tranquillity all pretty recently though.

I don't mind Trivium. I'm going to enjoy the show for sure though.

Recently saw Black Label Society (with 20grams), Nevermore (with Lord and a few other auzzie bands) and G3.

BLS was cool and this a few hours before the show was just as cool too...

The other guy in this pic is obviously me. He's one of my absolute guitar playing idols. I'm just a BIT over-excited!

Last band I saw was Yngwie Malmsteen, before that Megadeth, before that I went to metal for the brain, before that Deep Purple etc etc.

Not really metal, but the Dehumanizer Black Sabbath lineup (Iommi, Butler, Dio, Appice) is touring Australia soon, as yet no dates posted. I will definately be going to see that one, being the huge sabbath fan I am.

They're touring under the name of "Heaven and Hell" and its apparently going to be late 2007 or early 2008. They've got legs organised till october, with japan, canada and the south americas dates still to be listed alongside australia.

So we could be waiting a while.... However, I will be there for sure, Dio my all-time favourite vocalist.

On another side note, I'm going to Eric Clapton tonight, can't wait

Take some advise, don't go to the BDO to see your favorite band, chances are thy are haedlining eg TOOL. Find a side show like Slipknot did, I'll be waiting till then.

Metallica was pretty damn good at the BDO. I actually enjoyed it more at the BDO pooring down rain than their gig at the Entertainment Centre 2 days earlier.

But yeah I agree with your statement, you're usually much better off seeing the band in their own show. BDO has been pathetic for a few years now for metal fans.

Testament was so amazing. I didn't see 'King Diamond' there but it was just amazing. I was at the front of the stage directly infront of Alex Skolnick the entire night, and I was being completely stoked because he was using the same amp as me, and almost the same guitar. I couldn't believe it!

I got up onstage in the section just before the solo to 'Over the wall' and gave Alex a big high five before I jumped back into the pit and went back over infront of him again.

Yeah I was the one getting around in my Testament shirt that I got signed down at Utopia.

I drove into Broadway so I wasn't drinking.. Didn't get into the pit much, it was too brutal for my sober ass lol.

Haha yeah, I remember seeing you give Alex the high five on stage! How about that baldy security guy who pretty much pushed anyone off the stage who came near the band after you.

Here's a pic of the shirt:

Danzig would have been insane am I right? I've been a massive fan of Glenn Danzig-era ('77-'82ish) Misfits and a lot of his Danzig band stuff, dude is crazy big looking too!!

I was going to go to Slayer but money is pretty tight at the moment, seeing as I'm paying tafe fees, saving for a trip etc.

Was going to see Clapton but he was playing too soon to the time Roger Waters was and at $150 bucks for a ticket I wasn't shelling out for Clapton as well!

I'm regretting missing Testament and Kreator last year, I gotta stop going to so many punk and indie shows and start going to some more metal ones before all the good bands start disappearing.

I'd cancel almost anything to see Anthrax if they came out soon though.

I was infront of a butch chick security guard most of the night and when Chuck said "you guys can come on up if you want just don't break anyone's ****" I just walked right past her and she slammed me back and was like "wtf are you doing? you can't go there" so I was so annoyed I ran into the pit and found a big guy and said "oi lift me up man" and I got tossed onstage. It was rad!

That chick was gnarly though. One guy tried to get onstage when you weren't supposed to, and he jumped with one foot on the stage and she grabbed him by the shirt and yanked him out of the air. One of the photographers infront of the barrier got nailed when he landed on his head.

Yay! I was Trivium at BDO too, but I'm in Perth, and yes I too went to see Eric Clapton... Damn, he is one fine musician. Danzig still play? I thought they were an mid 80's - early 90's backwash?

At the Leederville on the 4th of March (For you Perth ppl), I'd recommend seeing 'The Restless Words'.
