    Default Messenger 7.5

Is it just me that thinks Messenger 7.5 is bullsh*t?

I formatted the computer a while back cause it needed a clean up, downloaded MSN and it hasn't worked since, I've been using version 6 or something because 7.5 just chunks up on me. Then when I press login it says MSN service is unavailable at this time.

What's going on. I need a version that works. Because Trillian is very trash.

I worked on a PC the other night and it was MSN that had the machine working flat out doing nothing. Kids had it opening on startup and it was no good for anything else. It had a 1.1 gig CPU so it should have been OK. But it was shit.... Turned it off and away it went. Duno about MSN but it ant good for all PC's.

Yeah its gutless, its interesting because when it opens its only around 23mb of ram and cpu only goes to something minor. Yet if you type in your username it freezes after the first letter. Then you come back later and its okay. Everything else works fine. Just very strange. Might do a virus scan but from what I've found there is a flaw in 7.5?

oh all the random things, make sure your clock is accurate, if its out ( something like a few houws allowance ) then it refuses to sign in

might pay to google the error code, theres a few sites around that should get it working

or if you dont use it and want to kill it dead for real, kill off start when windows start AND kill off "allow messenger to run i nthe background" because MSN trys to open with outlook express so killing background run off helps to stop it from rearing its ugly face

but on that note i dont mind MSN i've kept away from betas and the normal versions dont give me hassles ^_^

I've found msn to be a bit of a bandwidth hog. Doesn't like running at the same time as other big bandwidth apps. I've been meaning to try a new client for a while, anyone got any ideas?

I use MSN messenger 7.5 and don't have any problems with it. I installed windows live messenger 8 and noticed that my broadband was downloading continously after I installed it. Got up to about 30mb in 15minutes. So I uninstalled it and put back 7.5 and the downloading instantly stopped. I think that 7.5 is the most reliable version of messenger that microsoft have brought out.

also what is the build number of your msn 7.5
The reliable version that I am using is 7.5.0324 (you can find out the build number by opening messenger. Click on the help menu at the top. then click on about msn messenger. it will come up with the build number there).

if you want to download the MSN Messenger 7.5 Build 0324 you can get it here http://www.soft32.com/download_40.html

so true mate. i would had rather had 7,5 but the computer shit itself and we had to get a new one. I then couldnt find the old messenger all i could get was the new one which reguarly freezes when theres more than 4 people in a convo

I would suggest uninstalling that version and downloading and installing the one from the link that I provided above.
    Cheers

I got sick of complaining about how poor MSN was, then I tried trillian, worst IM program I've ever used.. also tried out the windows version of amsn for a while (after having good success with the linux version) and although it was almost as full featured it was imo a poorly coded resource hungry pig..

Love Windows Live Messenger now after that experience, though the occasional "message could not be delivered" gets irritating

Use Gaim, it owns all other IM programs. Do not forget to install GTK toolkit for windows.
