ok guys, just browsing the vicroads site, and came across this:
taken from here: http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/Home/...r+26+years.htmFrom 1 January 2007, all drivers under the age of 26 are required to carry their drivers licence with them when driving or penalties will apply. These changes are part of the first stage of Victoria’s new Graduated Licensing System to help improve the safety of young drivers. Further changes will be implemented over the next 2 years
ok, i cant get my head around this one, how is carying your licence with you at all times(i do anyway) going to improve safety of young drivers?
what about the poor bastard that forgot or has lost his wallet? not allowed to drive anywhere in fear of losing points or a nice hefty fine?
can someone please shed some light on this one for me?
and why 26? how did they pick that age cut-off?
hahah seem kind of stuipid so wot if ur 27 u can run round with no licence?
yeh, i dont get it, looks like a way to get in trouble easier or revenue raising.
i cant see any safety aspect about it myself, except pretending you're not a p plater, which most people over 21/22 arent anyway.
what else? not giving your licence number at an accident, which anyone could do, not just under 26
i carry mine everywhere in my wallet, but i thought the allwance to display your licence within 24hrs was for the purpose of forgetting it if its in your wallet for example.
To be honest I was lead to believe that you always had to carry it on you. I just want to know how this will improve the safety of your drivers? Just seems like another way to make a quick buck.

Selling FG G6E Turbo and buying a N/A Supra

**looks at self, i voted for mark skaife ROFL
been looking at it more, http://arrivealive.vic.gov.au/c_youngGLS_1.html theres a heap of info there.
in here is a summary of changes compared to the current laws, this is the reason for having to have your licence, though it only lists it for learners there.
also says currently, learners are not required to carry it.Effective traffic law enforcement relies on being able to identify the licence status of drivers.
i thought it was required to carry it at all times, but if you didnt for some odd reason and got pulled up, you could pop into your local cop shop and show them youve got it.
Thanks for pointing that out - I had no idea. I'll have to be extra careful to remember it at all times in future.
Gone are the days of driving to the local store in your boardies on a hot day to grab some milk, and paying with the coins in the car. Ya gotta take your bloody wallet with you everywhere >.<
Sounds like a load of bollocks to me.

Over 26 you just dont get a fine for not carrying a licence. They picked this age because it is usually by this time you stop forgetting to take your wallet with you(lol what a stupid excuse to not have your licence).
I dont see the big deal? It used to be just P Platers that had to carry a licence, then they made this law come into effect.
If you lose your licence, you WILL NOT get fined if you are going to get a replacement, not just a story of getting a replacement.

In NSW you can get fined for not carrying your license at all times.
This law is idiotic. Everyone should be made to carry their license at all times, if not for the police to know who they are dealing with, but if they are putting someone in a body bag, they know who they are putting in.
The new laws are a joke, Just like the Labor government.
To avoid this issue go to Vic roads and tell them u lost it. Then for $11 (i think) you can get a license reprinted. Then just keep that in your car that way u will never get done if driving you own car.
P.S. any one about to lose there license should get a new one of Vic roads before the suspension so you dont have to pay $60 for key pass.
ahahaha this is a pisser.... i fully thought, and have not driven in fear of it, that you must have your licence at all times.... like i've turned down driving lessons with folks beacuse i didn't have my learners. Left my wallet at home and couldn't drive.. hahahahah now its law, when i alreay thought it was. There you go...
aZk.
Ps> i always, always, always take my wallety with me, money, cards, credit cards, licence, id, memberships, i use it all the time... dont see how you would not take it with oyu everywhere...
