I just got a Logitech G5 mouse along with a G11 keyboard and loving them, but wondering what would be an ideal weight to add to the mouse for gaming? Should I put the most I can in and bring it down or start working up?
What should I be aiming for?
Thanks![]()
I use about a 50/50 mix of the heavy and light weights... really it's whatever is comfortable for you though.
I have 2 g5's (long story, 1 not working anyway).... and I can't find either cartridge thoughso both are useless.... mx-518 to the rescue... can you tell i like my mice?

With the G5, with the total amount of waeight in it possible, it still wasn't enough for me.
I like heavy mouses, its a must.... try out some weightages and see what you like...
i find heavier mouses to be more accurate.
aZk.
But too heavy and it has too much momentumnot nice for hardcore gamers...

I just stuck in all 8 of the heavier weights, added 36 grams total, it feels really different but at the same time it feels like there's less unintentional movement, it feels a lot more accurate, just need to get used to the weight, but I think 36 grams might be the go once I'm used to it.. azk or anyone else with heavy mice, do you notice you get a sore wrist or hand? And what DPI are you using if you don't mind me asking?
(don't mind me I'm so used to el cheapo basic wheel mouse opticals from microsoft, nothing wrong with them though!)
Just read mattmans reply, that seems like another point, changing directions quickly and rapidly might prove an issue with a heavy mouse..
ARGH THIS IS TOO COMPLICATED
With a heaveir mouse oyu can set the speed faster so that you dont loose that direction change....
I run my mouse at standard dpi. (micro**** standard).
I dont find my wrist hrting at al... its fine....

I ran mine half/half heavy and light, at 1600dpi... was awesome had to move the mouse like 2" to traverse 2 screens...![]()
Agh I need to find one of those cartridges though... crappy ms mouse at work is bugging me...

I'm going to learn to use it with all the 36 grams.
But now I have an even more horribly annoying problem, I can't for the life of me get the software that comes with either to work properly under Win Server 2003 EE. I think I'm going to need to install XP which is beyond annoying because I just got this install going perfectly (except for some dodgy half removed drivers and other crap).. if it's this bad for 2003, Vista's going to be a pain if I ever get back into using that for some reason
Never mind had to install SP1..
Everything's solved, yaythanks guys
you guys can change the wieght of your mouse? makes me feel low tech
Only with the Logitech G5 (expensive)...

But wait... There's more!!
But that's not all!!!

Remember also what surface you are using your mouse on. That is also important. I hate mouse pads.
My mouse emits a bright red light from the bottom, it doesn't have a mouse ball.... Its super high tech.
I think it cost me $12 from big w, top of the range.
@ Prophet - I miss those ones with the red LED in them because they're so easy to swap to any colour you want.. I'm stuck with invisible/IR laser![]()

Geez, I was all impressed with my Logitec VX revolution mouse. Wireless comfy and all the buttons I needed. It's not bluetooth so you don't have problems with connectivity issues. The range is temporamental but its sweet.
I might have to feed my mouse so it gets fat.
My dad just got a MX revolution, its a very nice, comfy mouse.
And how u press on the scroll to choose free spin or clicker, how tricky is that.
He also just got the logi wireless control, we were sittin bout 10-15mtrs away tryin to play NFS carbon n this thing wouldnt loose connection.
There's something severely wrong with my NFS Carbon and Most Wanted, for some reason the framerate goes violently between about 30fps and 100fps. I run it with every setting set to maximum and V sync off, however when I turn V sync on it makes the game slightly choppy (not the strange "jerky" but choppy).. I don't know if it's because I overclocked the graphics, I don't have enough RAM, hard drive is too slow or the drivers are buggered and I need to reinstall.. upsetting either waythat game was alright
Juzza, I think its because its a need for speed games. They haven't changed dramatically since Need for speed 3 was released. I still stand by saying that need for speed - the original, and the best.
Damn now I know what I'm doing wrong, I have been a huge Logitech mouse fan and owned the MX600, MX700, MX1000, MX5000 (Same as MX1000 but bluetooth), G7 and recently the MX Revolution. Yep that works out to be about a new mouse every 12 months or soLogitech's anonymous anyone.
I have never purchased the weights so that's why I suck in games, may explain it all now.
