Funny Spam I just got (involving Terrorists, Nuclear Weapons and the UN)

Wondering how many of you have been 'touched' by a Nigerian scam letter (or a 419 they are being called)?

I had one years ago but just got another one, thought it might be worth bringing up as despite it being up to 20 years old people are still being ripped off through these things. I read somewhere it could be the 4th or 5th highest input to the Nigerian economy. Scary!

Here is the latest one i got, anyone else got something similar?

I am Mr. Joseph Poon director of operations of the Hang Seng Bank Ltd. I have an obscured business proposal for you. After further investigation it was also discovered that Muhannad al-Hakim did not declare any next of kin in his official papers, including the paper work of his bank deposit. He also confided in me, the last time he was at my office, that no one except me knew of his deposit in my bank. So, Forty Four million Five Hundred Thousand United States Dollars is still lying in my bank, and no one will know of it. What bothers me most is that according to the laws of my country, at the expiration of 3 years and 6 months the funds will revert to the ownership of the Hong Kong Government if nobody applies to claim the funds. Against this backdrop, my suggestion to you is that I will like you as a foreigner to stand as the next of kin to Muhannad al-Hakim so that you will be able to receive his funds.

WHAT IS TO BE DONE:

I want you to know that I have everything carefully planned. I have contacted an attorney that will prepare the necessary documents that will back you up as the next of kin to Muhannad al-Hakim. All that is required from you at this stage is to provide me with your Full Names and Address so that the attorney can commence his job. I will use my position to influence the move of the funds. these things have been around for years as have the warnings about them so i have absolutely no sympathy for the idiots that get caught out by them.

With a very desperate need for assistance, I have summed up courage to contact you., I found your contact particulars in an address journal.

I am Group Captain Usman Bello of the UN on Monitoring and Peace –keeping mission in Baghdad-Iraq. On the 20th day of November 2006, we were alerted on the sudden presence of some Terrorists camping in a suburb not too far from Karbala here in Iraq. After immediate intervention, we captured three (3) of the Terrorists, twenty-six (26) were killed leaving seven (7) injured.

In the process of torture they confessed being rebels for late Ayman al-Zawahiri and took us to a cave in Karbala which served as their camp. Here we recovered several guns, bombs and other Ammunitions including some boxes among which two contains suspected nuclear weapons, one filled with hard drugs (cocaine) and the other four to my amazement contain some US Dollars amounting to $10.2M. After I and two of my junior intelligent officers counted them, I however instructed them to keep this in high secrecy.

I am in keen need of a "Reliable and "Trustworthy" person who would receive, secure and protect these boxes containing the US Dollars for me until my assignment elapses here in Iraq. I assure and promise you will not regret this deal. However feel free to negotiate what you wish to have as your percentage in this business.
