Ok, I hope this is not stupid but I'm curious..
As the title says... estimate how long you might keep your ride before you sell for another car??
Here's mine - I got a vs acclaim and I love my car, so maybe I might hang on to her for another 2 years!!
ALSO if possible tell what your next ride be?? (Be realistic)
Thanks.
I plan to always keep Ruby. And try to keep her in good condition with low k's. But that could change at anytime. But I'm in no rush to sell her.
My next ride after Ruby will be a VX - VY Senator Signature. Until I can get that, I'm happy with my VN.

Tomorrow doesn't look good either.
God must love stupid people, He made so many.
i probably wont sell my car ever, i have decided i want to hold on to it untill i die. but when im 23 (17 now) buying the 2007 7 series bmw im in love with it, hope its still not to expensive.
ah my current ride is a vn, had it for a long tiem now, keep it untill i die, i love this car, it's mine, it's just to much fun to get rid off,
as for the next car, well when it comes time to retire the vn and rebuild her, and use the vn as a show and cruise car only, i will prob get a toyota land cruiser or something along those lines
i am the god of britany spears womanizer on just dance on the wii
ummmmmm id probably keep my vn till im about 25 THEN put her in the garage and go buy myself a 300c..... so in about 7 yearsso ive got alot of time to make her perfect

Hopefully not to much longer... Need to get another VL what's in better condition with lower K's.
Until my car gets written off again or should I say properly written off. Done it once because of one turkey and my beast survived. When will it stop? Bloody maniacs on the road. grrr
Well starting around October this year, my commodore shall begin the long path to becoming pure sex on wheelsAnd by that I mean, getting a complete overhaul :P I'm going to start with basics, probably spend about $50 or so grand on her over the next 3 years. Then I'll keep her til the engine dies. Then replace the engine etc etc :P I intend to still own it, probably on it's 4th or so engine in 30 or 50 yrs

their eyes were open, but still they were blind...
I intend to keep mine until either:
1. I get a job and enough cash to buy something like a BA XR8
2. I find another (manual) VN SS in better condition with lower K's (preferably stock)
OR, I'll do it up a bit and keep it forever, or until it dies or the world's oil supply runs out.
Either way, it's gonna be a daily driver as long as I've got it.
A computer lets you make more mistakes faster than any other invention in human history, with the possible exception of handguns and tequila.
until i die lol....spent waaaaaaaay to much on and ill never get it back so whats the point in selling when i can just spend more???![]()
hahahaha i like it ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ great additude
the way it should be lol....probably wouldnt even get a 3rd back of what ive spent...
true that, but isnt that like any car lol.
same here, til i die.
but in saying that, once ive swapped everything to this vp wagon im getting saturday, dad will be getting the vn, so it wont be mine anymore.
i wont ever sell the vp or the project vn. as peanut said, never get your money back, so id rather keep it going.
next car will most likely be a ve wagon should they do it justice when it comes out.
Its great to hear a lot of you guys hanging on to your commies!!!
Keep posting people.
I forgot to mention what ride I might get next = Maybe a VY SS if I start saving for two years. But the price have to come down a lot tho..
ill hopefully keep my car for a few years. either as a daily driver or a project once i get the money. next car wont be a car, it'll be a 4wd!
my car- vn calais s2 would keep it till it dies not me lol i brought a 95 falcon ute in a1 condition for 1000 through work and im just gonna send it to its grave where all fords should be
MY CAR
i wanna keep the vc for as long as i can cos its in such good condition.
next car i want is a vy or vz ss 6spd
We got rep back, yaaay!
mid july i would of had my vs exec for two years, two more after that to cover the finance then i'm looking at either a VY sedan / ute or something japanese.
attn Über geeks, i play Second life. Patrio Graysmark.
Man EXACTLY.. I aint ever gettin rid of my VN. Spent too much and its not worth anything really so why sell it? Mod it, supercharge it, garage it
Im looking to sell my VS sometime next year though, so that I can buy a 6.0L V8 (VZ or VE depending on $$$ and hopefully a Calais!)
ive spent to much on my SS already so im not plannin on gettin rid of that. and im about to spend more on it aswell. but i suppose, if the right situatin comes up, ill probably get rid of it depending on how much i can get for it
my VS, well ill probably get rid of that in a few years for something newer. its in pretty good nick for a '97 VS V6 thats just clicked over 200,000kms so i aint in a hurry to get rid of it. and besides, thats the family car lol
I don't have a car at the moment, though I'm the kind of person who would trade up if something better came along, and it were at least a bit cost effective (no point throwing rego and repair moneys down the drain.. let the reg run out and wait till it's going to cost too much to fix) but at the same time I could always do better.. No definitive answer.. 3 years? 5 years?
I would never be happy, and there would always be something better out there. Can see the logic in keeping a car for a long time as well as trading in or keeping as a daily driver though.. and ask me in a few months and I'll probably have a completely different answer
It's one thing to say a car will be kept for 20+ years but realistically I don't think there'll be as many 20-40 year old commodores on the road in 2027 as people are making out to be![]()
But... We are in a time where people are spending large amounts of money on cars worth next to nothing (in the big picture), cars worth a fraction of the money spent on them.
20 Years ago, people didn't spend anywhere near the volumes of money on their prides and joys... There weren't all turbo and supercharged holdens getting around with custom interiors, bodykits and wheels worth as much as the car itself.
If I was to sell my VN... I would get 5k?... Why bother? Especially in another 5 years or so when I have spent even more and it will be worth even less. Better off keeping my pride and joy in the driveway, even if it only gets driven once every 2 weeks. It will go to **** over the years, but its better than selling it...
This doesnt mean my car is not worth the money I spend on it. Its my passion, and when I was younger I used to dream about owning a VN-VS like the ones I drove past in car yards and what not... Now im 19 and I have more than I used to dream of... It makes me happy and when Im driving, I forget about the problems I have at uni or in relationships or at home, its my outlet, so how could I put a price on it. Everyone has their passion... whether it be music, computers, cars, or some other hobby. Cars just happen to be an expensive passion![]()
