well as the title states, tomorrow is D-day. i'm pretty nervous. i'm going from spare parts back to semi driving. no one understands the responsibility and lifestyle unless they've done it before or a relative has. on the upside i go from a measly $34,000 pa to $58,000 pa for the same amount of work hours (not including hours sitting around at the depot while they load the trailer). i absolutely LOVE being behind the wheel of a big rig but i'm still nervous. oh well, nothing ventured nothing gained.
Oh nice bud my sisters boyfreind drives v doubles does the brisbane to mackay run he loves it and gets a killer pay

What truck you driving and who for? Better be a Western Star....!
freightliner. 18sp auto LOL. cushy run. don't load or unload. only drive about 750kms a night. unfortunately i don't have a B-double license. i've been offered a few jobs for that pulling in @$100k pa but longer runs. anyway the company i work for contracts to Star Track. i'm not looking forward to Mt Victoria (Blue Mts) in winter, can get real hairy with snow and black ice.
Hope its not an Argosy, unless its one of those new ones! Those Autoshifts arent too bad either.
18 speed road rangers the go, heard those auto shifters rev too high before changing.
Great job though, love driving myself (truck and superdogs, low loader) good luck with it.
Oh, and mack fleet liners are great for tipper work, long runs we've got the scania, better than driving my car!
You can actually set the revs on the Autoshifts. You are supposed to "teach" them your driving style when you first take off, and the first few changes after. If it still isnt correct, you can load different programs into the ECU, if you have the Eaton software.
Western Stars arent bad for tippers either......So long as you set them up right........
