Its a Bush Stone-Curlew, named after the way they freeze like stone.

We had these at our high-school just up the road from where this photo was taken. They're quite common in our area.

That bird was piss funny

It didn't move a muscle until we were within about a metre of it... looked like a statue it was so still... then it hissed like it was going to go mental lol. And after a bit of hissing it ran off with its body perfectly horizontal and just kind of hovered with its legs going underneath... like it had wheels haha.
