Anyone else feel like this?

Well i've just found out my old car has been written off, so there goes any chance i had to buy it back.


It was a VK Berlina Wagon, that i put a V6 and 5 speed into, but ran out of patience and money. It was above average condition, but now will never see the road again.


I feel like i've lost a child
I'll never sell my VP for this reason, but i can't help but think how good the car could've been if i still owned it.


Also the accident happened in the hills, the driver came around a blind corner to a stop sign (apparently no warning signs saying theres a stop sign ahead) and Tboned a Van and flipped it(the Van).

I suppose you could fix it... depending on the type of damage... sounds like it would be pretty bad though, but I'm sure depending on how much you'd be willing to spend it would be fixable... hopefully

i know what you mean though stelthy... my first commodore a vl i sold it last yr with no rego they stripped it and cubed it... i miss that car

which is why when I was selling my VL, I didnt want it to go to anyone I knew, I knew I would be beyond devo'd if I saw it destroyed.

I havn't seen pictures, but the damage was enough to rush everyone to hospital.

The strut tower is now the 'front' of the car, and none of the doors close, aswell as the roof is buckled.
The dash is pushed back and up, and stuck against the front window, but the window didn't even crack.


I wouldn't buy it as a write off, its not worth it. Also the guy still wants it for the motor and box, as it was a brand new gearbox in it. The point i was getting at was i thought about ringing him and asking to get it back, but he rang me first.

I swapped an XA 2 door GS for an A-team styled bedford van once....only paid $1000 for the car, sold the van for $4500 about 1 year later. I found out that the guy who had the Ford had just sold it for $200....I cried....the guy that bought it from him restored it back to factory condition. I see it every now and then.....still cry.

I've thought about trying to track down my old Colt (first car), as I was thinkin about how nice a V8 would go in it.....bit of custom work but one of my bro's mates had an injected 5.0L in one b4 so its definetely possible....I did heaps of work to that, but as I wasn't very mechanically minded as soon as I stuffed the head I sold it...well I bought another head for $220, but then found out that one was stuffed as well....so i was pissed off so i sold it for $400 and bought my VH.

yah i can only assume what you are feeling Nathan,
when i crashed my old vl i bet the old owner would of been spewing if they found out,
it had only just been resprayed a month or two before i got it, all the effort and time aswel as money to do the work then to sell and watch it get thrashed and smashed.

but as much as i miss that car i dont miss being pulled over for random breath tests 3-4 times a week and getting the car gone over...everytime! by the same highway asshole!

I know exactly how you feel, I lost my first car (just a stock colour coded red vn exec) when someone rear ended it at 60k. Written off, and well before her time. I too have never looked at the pics, simply refuse to, but I had the rather dubious honour of doing a final interior clean-up before the insurance guy came to take pics.

i feel for you mate.
i rode my VXII R8 clubby off on new years morning 5min from home.
single vehicle accident, lost control round a corner and after failing a couple of times to correct her the steering wheel literally spun in my hands and into a tree i went.

luckily it was only me in the car and it hit the passenger side.
airbags went off, emergency horn continued to stay on, etc
was a messy scene. i was lucky to walk away with nothing but sore back, neck and burn mark under my forearm from the airbag...oh yeah and luckily i had my window down coz of the way i hit the tree on 45 degrees and then the ass end of the car spun around and i was facing opposite direction to where i was coming from my head would have smashed into it.....i definately wouldnt have walked away then!!!

had car for 5months. installed $6K+ stereo 3 months before prang.
abused by cops, sworn at etc.
was hoping 07 was gonna be a good year compared to 06 after gf of 7years who we were planning marriage, kids, house, etc left me for a guy 5years older and asian...proposal was planned for valentines day this year on holiday to gold coast which i instead just came back from with mates...

oh well there is a light at the end of the tunnel....
all things going well with insurance and cops it just means a new VE SSV for 07..black, man, v8, sunroof, leathers, etc.........

EDIT: oh yeah and the insurance company wont let me buy back the wreck...they say come to the damaged auction and bid like everyone else

I hated my old car and it hated me too sold it for $500 in the end with a blue front right 1/4 panel and all (car was red)

yeah add a zero then times by 1.5 and that was before i put the stereo in.

but dude something i learnt through the rough last 6+months is that life goes on and it gets better....i look back at it all now and smile...it was nothing and things turn around...its all about growing up, life and learning

hahaha know how you guys feel,

had an old HQ kingswood all origional paint matching plates was mint.
when i got it the engine was in abit of trouble but soon fixed it only to make a rookie mistake and put a rocker through the cover .... ohh the pain of finding replacement parts... then had the distributer cap break after a service .... had to have the brake cylinder replaced as the fluid had eaten through it in its 30 something years.... but still it was like a father to me ... being my first car and all.... and i still pine for it and certain features like the high beam button on the floor next to the brake pad.... ohh so intuitive....

anyway sold it and bought a VY commodore so far touch wood no probs, but the HQ got sold again to some punk who lowered it on its a*s and painted it canary yellow... with some other mods and some parking dents on front and rear..... i was inconsoleable for a little while after i realised he had destroyed something so unique... 30 year old car origional paints everything mint just as was when it rolled out of the factory and on its 31st year it was just another bomb *sniff*
