    Default Police to be investigated

An inquiry has been launched into police conduct during the violent G20 protests that rocked Melbourne in November.
Victoria's Office of Police Integrity (OPI) has been called in to investigate complaints of improper use of batons against protesters, News Limited newspapers say.
But the threat of discipline against officers has angered police union leaders, who claim protesters pelted their members with bottles and balloons filled with urine.
"Our members were treated appallingly," Police Association secretary Paul Mullett told the Herald Sun. "It was our members who were violated and abused.
"They (the protesters) were there for one purpose - to cause disruption."
Victoria Police set up a taskforce after the forum of the Group of 20 nations and so far have charged 29 people with various offences, including riot and affray, the newspaper says.
Four police officers and two protesters were hospitalised in the mayhem in which water-filled barriers were allegedly used as weapons against police.
A Victoria Police statement said it took the allegations against its members seriously and all complaints would be thoroughly investigated by its ethical standards department, overseen by the OPI.
We wonder why people are happy to abuse our laws, Police can't evne use their powers to try and settle a group of tree hugging idiots causing trouble.

Its no wonder we have a police shortage. It's time the government grew some bloody balls and let police do their job the way they need to. It pisses me off to no end knowing what people can get away with and knowing our law can't even go close to doing what the criminals do.

we have the same bloody problems here, if a bro claims police brutality against a white officer he's automatically on paid leave (suspension) untill there has been an investigation. cops won't arrest minors here cause the paper work involved and the hassles are greater then what ever happens to the under age crook, and when they do they normally get off on some BS technicallity cause the cops didn't follow the right procedure etc. no wonder then they run riot cause they know the cops'll leave em alone etc. i say givethe poewr to the cops and let then do there jobs.

I am a firm believer in "eye for an eye" policing. If a cop is attacked in such a scenario, I believe they should be within their rights to beat the living snot out of whoever attacked them to begin with.

So many people see police as the enemy these days and as a result, we see car thieves run from police more commonly, in many instances killing innocent people, because they know if they drive fast enough, they won't be chased. There was an incident near me recently where a young girl was killed (At Redcliffe I think it was) as a result of police chasing a suspect. And who gets blamed? The person doing 170 km/h in a suburban street, or the police trying to stop them? The police of course...

It is truly ridiculous. I am frustrated, frightened, saddened and furious all at once with the attitudes of the people who blame the police in these situations.

Well in reality it was improper use of batons. They should of been able to crack more than two heads if they weilded them correctly.
