Best bargain of your life?

G'day, just wondering what has been the best bargains some people have come across?

I once bought a busted Honda QR50 minibike of a stoner mate of mine for $50, fixed the snapped handle bars and sold it the next week for $750

My very first car (1974 LA Lancer) cost me $200 with rego, lasted 2 & 1/2 years with nothing go wrong with it. Sold it and that night the guy who bought it wrapped it round a tree.

Uhhh just the usual ebay bargain's. One time some dude listed a sticker kit for a RM125 (dirt bike), it was a SoBe suzuki graphic's kit which are becomming pretty rare for my model of bike anyway i paid $1 for them. And also here's another little bargain, I paid $200 for a brand new FMF Fatty expansion chamber when they retail for $450 in shop's.

Best bargain: Bought a PSP at Big W for the girlfriend the other day, and it was $98 cheaper than the ticketed price. Didn't say a word

Bought a 1991 ford festiva for $200 from mum when I got my P's, had it for two and a half years, put on 80,000 km on the thing, only changing the oil and filter once in it, never had it serviced or really checked any levels in it period. Still ran as good as the day I got it, sold it for $800. Could throw anything at it and it'd still run.

I bought a VK Valiant for $50. Wasn't running, I cleaned the spark plugs, washed it and sold it for $900.

i brought my car for $500 with lpg and cruise(got to hook it up but cbf) and hasnt let me down.....

i once bought a 253 vh for $300 took the lsd out and fitted with a single spinner and sold it again for $600
paid $50 for a carolla and it lasted 2 hours in the bush. (smashed it)

Well i'll have to think a bit but my brother paid $40 for a 4 wheel motorbike of an old farmer who said it was stuffed.
Took it home and cleaned out the carby, put some clean fuel in and away she went!
He spent $300 all up including tyres fixing it up and sold it for $1200

ahh got about $300 worth of parts from a wreckers for 45 bux. my trannie for $350. catback for $15 {rattles tho}, couple of bikes off ebay for 100 bux {good ones}.

i got a complete 308 running with a maxi touque manifold 600 holley and turbo 400 attached for only $200 oh yeah had nearly brand new extractors ono it too.. lol the owner thought it was a 253 poor fella

My bro scored a 5lt vn calais for $800 less the front panels and made a killing selling it in parts.
A few years ago he sold a very quick VN for $10,000 to a mate and he put it into a tree.He got it back for $1000 and sold it for $3500.Nice profit.

paid $7000 for a 99 vt exec immaculate with just over 100 thousand kms when they were still worth about 15 - 18k cept i got it off my dad so its not like it was something i just stumbled accross, ended up selling it a year later for $12000

- Blue VH SL/X, perfect interior, rust free body (though a small dint or two), broken engine - $100 (+ ~$120 to get it towed I think) - stripped it and had it towed away for free (stupidest decision)

- Black 202ci motor - ~$80 I think (now living in my brothers garage - was going to go in the blue VH but i couldn't be bothered )

- White VH SL/X, 253ci V8 running, body rusted and interior rooted - $250

Swapped the white car for a running but slightly rusty Red VB with blue motor, sold that because I thought I would share the ex-ex-ex's car - lol!

And that's the story of why I don't have a car

low km vr wreak for 500 at auction went half with evil monkey and skored a very smooth engine for bugger all. bought a stage 2 came for a vn series one on ebay for 200, held onto it for a year resold it on ebay for 440. bought a 1988 vn off evil monkey only had 180k on the clock v6 manual never let me down till i let it down and half wrote it off for 2 grand . got a loan off the rents and they turned around and said dont worry about the loan. skored it for FREE. and ive never paid for drugs so u beauty

Got a VC 4 speed 186 for $75, had it for 2 weeks and got t-boned.. Writen off, sold it for $50!
Bout 3 weeks ago, bought an N13 pulsar vector for my girlfriend. 1.8l 5 speed, power steer, ac, new carpet, spotless interiour for $500. Only thing that was wrong was a small leak in radiator ($85) and the rear muffler was broken ($100) to put the gennie cannon on it that I had lying around!

VS for $500, sheet thats pretty good, considering I just paid $4000 for mine (190k)
I've found eBay is a waste of time these days, too many people buying stuff for more than you can pay in the shops... strange people out there.
I've been thinking of buying a wrecked vn s2 manual from the auctions, sticking the manual in my vs and possibly wrecking the vn. But dunno how much they would really go for at auction.
Missed out on a "recon" manual from an s1 (had everything minus the 8bolt flywheel for s2-> of course, which are hard to come by apparently) from eBay, went for $310.

well I thought our VT was a bargain at $7k, even with the $600 worth of work needed, and rego transfer etc, but maybe not.....
gf bought perfume for her mum for b'day, no price on shelf, chemist girl charged $23.00, walking out, gf saw sign saying $230.00 in a different place, so she legged it before they realised.....
usually I get screwed when buying stuff though, either it's not as good as seller said (my new engine) or can't buy it here so I freight it from down south and never end up using it

Well the VT was a good one too, considering here the cheapest Ive seen one was about $6000, with the paint all coming off..
When I was looking for a VS, went to look at one that was meant to be "IMAC" but was not and the dude wanted $5000 for it 150k on gas.. yeah right 150k...
I spose if you want to find something good for the right price, you really do have to look around to sort the crap from the good stuff.
