What to do, what to say...

He's owned a 32 4wd skyline before and loves the rush of the turbo and the go kart like handling...
Also, the smoothness of the engine at 7,000 rpm
The better build quality compared to Holden's
The 13.66 1/4 time factory stock
A car which drives like a sports car without any mods
the fact that he can buy one for the price of a mint VX V6 exec $10,000

I am just so very sad... I thought he was going to buy a VS... So I could say 'my VS V6 is faster than your VS V6'...

He quotes Ali G in Kazakstan movie ' I buy skyline, he cannot afford, great success ' ...

This bloke is a Holden man at heart, I just need to sway him somehow...

a 4WD drive car will **** on any 2WD car as there is just that superior handeling...

have you ever driven a skyline before? Maybe you would reconsider the whole holden vs. ricer thing.... remeber, if the car is ACTUALLY hot, then there not ricers, ricers are the one who own ****box excels, not 10second supras....

What's your mate after? Could go an older model SS then upgrade with Calais/Statesman bits, always fun..

If the car's going to remain stock then skyline is a much better option

How to sway him away? Don't even try...if I could afford one I'd have an R32 AWD in a flash...of course a roomier R34 would be better...but unless the Lotto man comes a knockin, it ain't gonna happen anytime soon...

Commodores are great, but I think people are living under a rock if they honestly think that no other car in the world can match it or better it...as someone said above, they're a family car, and we should respect Holden for bothering to make a "family car" which is so much fun to drive even in some of the standard forms...in plenty of countries, "family car" means "boring and slow car", and if you want even slightly spirited performance, you have to spend up big on a much higher spec version or completely different dedicated sports car.
I have spoken to people from places like the US and England, and they are very surprised by the performance and handling levels of even a basic V6 auto Commodore. Look at the new VE...the general consensus seems to be that even the base models are pretty much dynamically the equal or better of some large European cars costing two or three times as much.

But yeah, if the guy can afford an AWD Skyline, let him enjoy the ride...lucky sod...

Hmmm.....seems to me he isnt a holden man at heart. See, us holden drivers dont actually care which is faster, we drive holdens because thats what we love, plain and simple. Commodores are not made to be performance cars, they are all rounders, designed to be sporty, plenty of leg room, and with heaps of options for either more perfomance, more comfort, or more room.

If his heart is telling him to buy another skyline, there is no swaying to be had, he has already made up his mind.

SIDE NOTE:-
For those of you saying how wonderful Skylines are etc, most people that are car fans will not argue that they have there place, it's just not on our beloved Just Commodores forum

stealthy i think you're barking up the wrong tree, he didnt say he'd beat a skyline, just that a v8 sounds better than the turbos you see floating around.

I personally love the sound of a supercharged v8, it's a rare sound (only been able to hear one two or three times) but ive already decided what im doing to my next car :P
