Nothing frustrates me more than someone who is so closed minded that they deny the undeniable... ignore facts just because they don't sit correctly with their misinformed view of how the world is.

It is the same kind of person who will never ever accept nuclear power, will never drink recycled water, and now, will never use an LCD or Plasma TV.

I just had to shut my mouth and walk away from a conversation with a co-worker after a discussion about LCD vs. CRT because it ended with this bloke ignoring every word I spoke, smiling patronisingly and shaking his head. The typical "poor naive youth... you obviously are very confused and will never get anywhere in the world".

I was talking about how I would love to get an LCD TV for the beautiful sharp picture and how after watching one for a while its very hard to go back to CRT TVs because everything looks so blurry and undefined in comparison.

Ass: "CRTs don't look blurry... they have a far superior picture to LCD and always will. If you think they are blurry there must be something wrong with your eyes. Have you had your eyes checked? LCDs are terrible. You can see the pixels!"

Me: "And why do you think you can't see the pixels on a CRT TV? They are all blurred together! You've used TV-out... Do you remember the windows desktop ever being so clear and legible? Didn't have to drop the resolution to 640x480 just so you could make out the text on the start button? hmmm?"

Ass: *patronising laugh* You obviously need your eyes checked. LCDs are just a fad.

Its just your typical know it all. I'd have to agree with you about the lcd screen. I got a laptop for xmas, hadn't used the old pc with the crt monitor for about a month, I recently booted it up and I was so shocked how blurry the thing was. So now the old pc is in my daughters room and we bought a a nice lcd monitor for it

The original LCD panels were very poor but now they are way beyond a CRT. I would like to see him say a CRT is better then a TRUE HiDef (1080p) LCD with a Blueray movie playing connected via DVI-D or HDMI.

As for Plasma, they are being phased out as they now can have LCD's display a viewable picture at high speeds above 40". But being in Australia we are the dumping ground for old tech.

Mayb u should bring up these new laser screens that a aussie company has developed.

They are meant to be alot clearer, more colours n faster than lcd's.

Havnt seen much about them but they seem to be a beauty.

i prefer crt's for response time but even now i have to admit, LCD's have got that pretty much nailed down,

i suppose the only thing i like about CRT's over LCD's is their ruggedness
my 17"er can survive any way (ecept on its back ) in th boot of my car even with it and my case sliding about ^_^

the brightness of a lcd is good these days but i still prefer my crt.

I alwayst thought that Plasma was better then LCD ... I prefer to watch fast moving things like sport on Plasma, then LCD ... But yeah, they both crap all over CRT ...

lol! co-worker... I think out loud at work and this prompts a lot of conversations. There was another little thing I heard just before too. This other co-worker is asking me if I have any spare motherboards and I tell him I've got a couple of AMD ones he can have. This same tool yells out across the room "AMD are ****. Don't get AMD get intel. AMD are ****. You'd have to be stupid to use AMD because they are ****".

I kid you not that was his exact wording. I happen to know from previous conversations that his assumptions about AMD are purely based on one experience he had once where a heat sink fell off because he hadn't attached it properly and the Athlon smoked.

Yeah it is called difference of opinion. Everybody has there own. Just because you believe something it doesn't make it true. And even something true, it doesn't mean you'll necessarily believe it. Calling somebody close minded because they don't see things your way is... well close minded. If you want your own opinions respected, maybe you should first learn to respect others

There is a difference between a difference of opinions and just not listening. I actually prefer CRTs and they provide a "clearer" image IMHO, i dont like looking at LCD's for too long (more than 6hours) as it just ****s me... im a crt boy, i just like them better. They CPU thing is like the holden vs. Ford, its stupid and ****.... The intel Core2 Extreme is the fastest commercially avaliable CPU on the market with overclocking options ontop, if i could afford one, id drop my cpu (AMD) in a sec and get one. Im not biased too much, but i always read reviews and check benchmarks.

Tell your mate hes a dick and then hit him real hard.... not cos hes wrong (wasn'tthere to comment) just os he is!

P.S. shaggerz, my diff turned out to be ok so im not getting a spool till i get my swap over project fininshed! sorry i didn't PM back.

No Offense That guys is a friggin idiot, i cant believe that you work with these ********s. LCD is Far more better then CRT Screens atm the technology is more advanced in a LCD.

As For AMD. I have had both AMD and Intel and i am not phased regardless on the CPU i would have to say that i wouldnt mind a Intel core 2 Chip that would be awesome as.

The funny thing is what u said he said out loud at work AMD's are **** lol, That cracked me up when i was reading it.

I am going to be buying an LCD screen when i get the money for me home for me home TV and PC as well... Cant wait for that day.

i had exactly the same argument with a mate when i bought an LCD for my pc, the old crt looked sh!t, we even sat then mext to each other (dual mon setup) and it was clearly in the LCDs favor, but didnt want to admit it.

people just dont seem to go out of their comfort zone, particually ad you said, with nuclear power etc

and amd are good cheap systems ......but if i was building a highend pc id probably go for the intel ... but thats just my opionon
