Dealing with Jealousy

Just thought I'd ask for some opinions/help on dealing with intense jealousy.
My mate rocked up today at my joint.. but instead of the cruddy white VR exec ute pulling up, an immaculate, 1994 all original, 120,000k, 215kw 5.7L, VR GTS is parked out the front.

God it was an awful feeling.. I wanted to bitch-slap his smug smile right off.

Help me, before this ends the wrong way.

I had a major medical scare a few weeks ago, I thought I was going to die... but my test came back negative. Since then, the simplest of things are enough to make me happy like the fact I'm still breathing.

So, I dunno exactly what I'm trying to say... but .. perhaps just be grateful you're better off than someone else.
Fact of the matter is, there's always going to be someone above.. and someone below you in everything/anything you do/have/etc

Dont take this the wrong way but, i think you need to pull your head in. If my mate rocked up in a new car i would say one of two things first. 1)Gimmi a drive in it or 2) Congrats, lets go for a drive. Lifes too short to worry about what he drives, think about what DRIVES you to be all you can be!

let him lap it up, but never resent people because of what they own.

he's happy, he's probbably paid alot for it, he is still your friend, don't get nasty or put him down for it, even if he is a bit ****y.

I'd get over it, and do it quickly. Theres always going to be someone that has something you want and someone that has it better. If you dwell on it you will just grow up to be a bitter twisted old man. Of course everyne wants something that someone else has but instead of getting all bitter about it use it as inspiration, think if I really work hard and save I will be able to buy one of those one day, or maybe something nicer

I hate it when i go past centerlink and there are all there dole bludgers driving very expensive cars.There is this one bloke(young)that drives a black WH on 20s(at least)on its nuts with a big system thumpin.Lazy pr*ck.

OP - You should be happy for ya mate, he's probably worked hard for the thing and likely will be paying for it for a while.. no matter what you do, or what you own there IS someone who can do it better and owns something better, be happy they are your mates and not people you hate lol

if you are on austudy or youth allowance youll be using the money to get an education and if you are lucky enough to have some left over youll eat as well.

The people i think they are talking about are the ones that couldn't give a **** about anything other than paying their Austar bill, grabbing a carton of longbeach or similarly cheap and nasty tobacco product, a slab of nasty woodstock and then ripping people off to pay for new bits for their tax-payer funded cars.

I used to get youth allowance when i was at uni, i hated being in centrelink. i used to come out of the line smelling of stale ciggies. Dont they realise how gross they are?

mate just be happy for him.
like others have said no matter how far ahead you get there will always be someone better or more ahead than you.
be happy with what you have and learn to "Get what you want and want what you have"

its with everything in life...be it have the better car, the quicker car, the most money, the better job, better gf or bf, better family, etc.
be thankful for what you have and have got it working hard...remember things like cars are material but what matters is your happiness and health...without them nothing else matters

maybe I should have kept my post a little lighter-hearted.. it seems I may have come across as genuinely suicidal over this, lol!
Just incase anyone is worried about me taking my own life, I thank you for the helpful advice, but I was merely trying to make a (pretty crap) joke, as well as add in a bit of a brag for my mate.. I mean, cmon.. the VR GTS's are a pretty damn sweet machine!

I really am truly happy for him.. And starting now.. I'm saving for a VE GTS

And speaking of centrelink, I was there late last year when I was still studying, and noticed someone had tagged the plastic 'fake plant' pot in the middle of the office.. Now THATS hardcore.

well I'll add my bit here too... no point being jealous of your mate, it's just not worth the heartache, but I can see your point, jealousy has led me down many different paths before, thankfully sanity and my gf pulled me up nefore I spent any money.
as for the dole bludger/student on centrelink/austudy, firstly, no student will be able to afford a WH, let alone $4k wheels, so that's a moot point. secondly, the guy probly worked his ass off to buy/mod the car, then things turned sour... all I'm saying is there's a rational excuse for alot of what we see, but I do agree, there are too many lazy people out there who are quite happy sponging of hard working people who only just make ends meet before the ends get moved...

1- you can go cruising/out in his car more because "its hot"
2- so since you will be using your car less, you will save petrol.... less petrol = more $$$
3- wellllll if he didnt buy it what do you think your chances of driving one are? now you can get a drive off him and brag about how your mate owns a vr clubby and about how hard it goes..... EAAAAASY! so just be happy about it OR like mike said, get a ve gts
