Haven't watched it and I won't. I believe it glorifies the car thief/smash and grab world. The interview with the main character even said that he reckons he is doing nothing wrong and that he is just 'misunderstood'. His character that is.

I have been watching it... It is not a bad show... As for it glorifying smash and grabs, well, it is no different then watching a movie about serial killers, or shows like law an order (SVU, CSI, CI) where it not only shows crimes but how they get caught...

I see your point. I like the show though. The writting is good and the story flows really well. The way they make it look is more like a series crossed with a doco. In anything you watch you will make your own decisions and views unless you are easily influenced. I'm cut the hot chick got killed. I like that they have done their research. E.g. the crash that happened last night leads to the riots which is exactly what happened in macquarie fields.

Wow...what a reaction. Are you a criminal? My point is a TV show that portrays an illegal activity and states that there is nothing wrong with it is a bit irresponsible. Most characters accept that what they are doing is wrong and you know its fiction. The interviews with the actors showed them to believe that Dangerous was all fun and adventure. You my friend are the one that needs to grow up and smell reality. Respect for other peoples rights and property should not be degraded and glorified by a TV show. I watch movies to escape from reality and be entertained. If I wanted to watch this type of program I would move to Cronulla and witness it first hand. I know this goes on all the time but with attitudes like yours it will never stop.

    1. it doesn't show that there is nothing wrong - if you had actually watched the show you would see cut-scenes showing that they eventually get caught

    2. the police chasing them constantly and the various arrests show that it is quite illegal.

    3. there is no point moving to cronulla because this type of crime doesn't happen down there. i don't know where you live now, but if you're still in WA then it's not suprising you have no idea. should you live in sydney you would have some idea, and in western sydney an even better idea. cronulla is an area dominated by australians (its on the beach) whereas the area depicted in Dangerous (punchbowl / greenacre / bankstown) is dominated by lebs. thats not racist, its just the way it is.

    4. if anything, Dangerous is being politcally correct by having the gang members be Aussie / Asian / Leb. The fact is that no gang i've ever heard of has an aussie / asian / leb mix, especially after events in areas such as Cronulla. In an area like Punchbowl, i think you would find many leb gangs, and not much else.

    5. the show doesn't glorify these crimes. the fact is they happen. i know people who do it, and make quite a bit of money out of it too. thats how 17yr olds on their red P's manage to have $50,000 skylines, even though they live in ordinary conditions.

    6. yes the acting is... well lets jsut say it could be better. but it doesn't matter because the script is so good, and the plot is fantastic.

    7. should anyone actually have any idea about the state of crime in western sydney, particularly the areas depicted in Dangerous, i'm sure they would back me up on all these points. I live in Western Sydney - not in punchbowl or greenacre - i know people who do though, and i drive through these areas everyday on my way to work. Dangerous is a show that simply highlights an already prominent problem

The fact that Khan Chittenden who plays Dean said in an interview that Dean was just a misunderstood youth rather than a criminal is what I'm getting at. It's good that we are getting some Australian drama for a change rather than 2 year old seasons from America. My opinion is that these type of programs give credence to the lifestyle. I don't know what life is like in Western Sydney, I did spend time in Sydney as a kid but it was in Mascot. Just like Bathurst inspires people to use suburbia as a race track so do programs like Dangerous inspire street gang mentality.

I only used Cronulla as an example because of the recent racially motivated events that took place. My ignorance to what Sydney is really like makes me thankful that I live where I do. I'm not oblivious to it, nor am I niave to think it doesn't happen. I gave my opinion. That is what it is MY opinion. Don't abuse me because you don't agree. Express your own opinion in a mature way. (Not directed at you Mr-Slim)
