Whenever in the past I used to talk with someone working in the factories of Holden or Ford, they used to say that Holdens that were produced for export were of much higher quality.
Did you ever come accross this opinion and do you reckon it is possible...
This would mean, go and buy Pontiac VE
Possibly. Holdens are still relatively new on the global market so it would make sense to send our best overseas. But having said that, I believe the Monaros exported had less options.
I work at the Holden factory. Havn't heard of this. Most of the VE exports (excluding the Pontiac) still have most VE parts but the features like rims and stuff are all swapped around. The only difference really is the fact that the steering wheel is on the left side (and other small things to comply with standards). Unless they put that in better I dont know why anything else would be of better quality. I could find out by asking someone who works in general assembly.
As I work in manufacturing, products for export always have more attention to detail on the final product. Cosmetic things are more likely to slip past on local product as they can be rectified on a local dealer/factory level. When product is shipped OS the manufacturer has little opportunity to correct defects and major issues as it is of a larger expense to see these issues through. Obviously if the manufacturer has support and infrastructure on the other end then these issues aren't a major concern and the extra attention to detail isn't warranted.
